I think he was the best actor of the gang during his time (again, I only recently found out that he was actually a teenager during that time) and was a smart ass haha. I'd say that even though Spanky and Stymie definitely stole the show in "Spanky," he still had some funny moments in that short as Simon Legree, especially when the audience was throwing eggs and tomatoes at him. "Now this is the act where Little Eva .....*egg gets thrown at his face*....DIES!!

Regrettably he didn't get much chance to show off his acting talents, as he only appeared in eight shorts and in most of those he was a relegated to a supporting role. However he's far from being the only Ganger to have suffered the same fate. Poor old Harold Switzer never got to speak a word onscreen, as far as I can remember, and he was in around thirty Our Gang shorts.

Kendall was hired to fill the void that Jackie Cooper's departure left. But Spanky showed up almost immediately after and was really the one that stole the show. As for his quick exit, Kendall may have been small, but he was still around 15. His voice was bound to change pretty soon! He was an underrated talent, though. Shame he didn't show up a bit earlier.
Harold wasn't really interested in acting, from what I'm told. He mostly hung around Carl on set and occasionally played a minor part when needed.

You could well be right about Harold. Carl kept plugging away at acting, with varying degrees of success, right up until the time of his death. In contrast, according to IMDb, Harold's acting career ended when he left Our Gang. By that time he was a young adult and probably capable of making his own decisions about the sort of work that he wished to do. In fact he probably served in military at that point, as there was a war going on. Just interrupt one of their fund raising 'comedy' routines and ask Froggy & Co if you don't believe me.

What do you think, it has always been Wheezer, but lately I have been getting into the silents and some favorites from then are Mickey, Jackie, Farina, and Mary Kornman. I also love the early talkies: Wheezer, Stymie, Mary Ann and Baby Spanky. Spanky was at his most charming as a baby.
