It should be good. Classic Flix has done great work in the past. Hope so. Just looking at some of the samples they showed in video it looks great.

The 8 disc restored and remastered set released a while back was pretty darn good. So good I cant see myself spending money for another set. I imagine it is now out of print so this is a way for ClassicFlix to capitalize on a re-release. I would like to know how it will differ enough to get people to pay for a reissue. Anyone??? Blu-Ray doesnt always mean better quality. Environmentally its MUCH better because you can fit 3-8 regular DVDs worth of data on one Blu-Ray disc. European companies have been practicing this with different cartoon/TV series, and I wish American companies weren't so much about profit by making us buy multiple regular DVDs when they could instead put out so much more material on a single Blu-Ray.

It doesn't look like this is just a reissue. It appears they're actually doing new restorations to make the films look even better. I don't know if all 80 of the films will be included. I have a feeling it will be a 'best of' of sorts to test the waters.

I have a feeling it will be a 'best of' of sorts to test the waters. According to the site: ClassicFlix is thrilled to announce that we have licensed all 80 Hal Roach Our Gang (Little Rascal) sound shorts and will soon be announcing a crowdfund project to preserve and restore these beloved and iconic shorts.
And this is from another forum: Ardent classic cinema fans (or even casual ones) will want to be a part of this as Our Gang crosses over into iconic cultural status, and are not limited to just fans of cinema.
Please continue to post, share and talk about this and make sure to check out the video above if you haven't already. It gives fans just a glimpse of what they will be in store for. The difference for most shorts will be like watching them for the first time. They'll be THAT good.
More info will be known when the campaign goes live. Stay tuned...

According to a post on Facebook by Richard W. Bann, the "photochemical" restoration is considered done and that's what we got on the Cabin Fever releases.
This project would involve digital cleanup which sounds like something along the lines of the recent Laurel & Hardy Blu-Ray set. I don't yet have that set but some of the reviews I have read suggest the films are cleaned up "too much," i.e. in some cases scrubbed completely of film grain with a very unnatural look. But like I said, I personally haven't seen them yet.
If that's their intention, I don't see the point. If we're talking about new HD scans of the original film elements, then that's definitely worthwhile and the few minor errors on past releases (like a couple shorts with missing footage and one with some generic end title edited on) could maybe be fixed.

Thanks for this. I've just made my contribution to this project. Let's hope everything goes just as promised. It's certainly telling to learn how lacking the previous releases have been.

I'm no video expert so I couldn't tell you the difference between just right and too much cleanup but I own that Laurel & Hardy set and came away very impressed. The quality of the video is light years ahead of anything else I have seen for the boys. If the Our Gang set gets the same style of treatment then I will be very very happy. I only wish we could do the same for the silents but I don't believe enough quality prints of those exist to come close.

Surprised by the lack of traction this got here. Do you guys even Rascal?

Yeah, those who haven't pitched in their $50 may want to consider it pretty soon. Classic Flix tracked down "Los Cazadores de Osos" (the Spanish version of "Bear Shooters"). If that will be included, it alone will be worth the price.

I'm depressed this hasn't gained more traction. There are only 11 days left and they're less than 50% of the way there. I don't think all the money will be raised in time now and this will affect future releases if there will be any.

I think the word has gotten out. I just think the general interest isn't there, which is sad. Hopefully more people can scrounge up some cash.
