One of my favorite silents was Rainy Days. It's just so chaotic, pure slapstick and also one of the few movies in which Bobby Dean appeared.

Three stills of Harry and the rest of the 1929 Gang that I bought on eBay arrived this morning so I've posted them on my (link> Enigma Who Was Harry Spear<link) blog, along with two other pictures of the 1929 kids attending the studio school. Here's one of the photos that I bought.

I've recently been watching some movies with Junior Coghlan in them (AKA Frank Coghlan Jnr). He was born in 1916 and even made an appearance in an early Our Gang movie (Giants Vs Yanks) but it's his hairstyle that made me wonder if perhaps he was the inspiration for a certain rascals, one who personalized it by adding a rather distinctive cowlick.

I know that Scooter was small but this photo really illustrates just how tiny some of the other Our Gangers were, unless of course it's a giant goat...

Still not convinced? And I know this is a big dog but it's not that big because its head is only level with Mary Ann's chest and she was hardly what you'd describe as tall.

This is one of my favorite photos of Alfie, I just love the way he's concentrating so fully on sharpening a pencil that he's completely lost to the world

At the risk of being accused of blasphemy I've got to include one of my favorite pictures of the other Alfalfa

And just to even things up, here's the real Alfalfa with the rest of the 1937 Gang sharing lollies with Hal Roach Jnr.
