I'm not sure what the plans are for School Begins, but 13 minutes of the first still-lost Our Gang film is being sold on eBay on DVD by a United Kingdom citizen. This is a mixture of the shortened 4 minute version, Donkey Delivery Co., which some of you have, and the rest are the bits that have been discovered. They've been professionally converted from 16mm and 9.5mm extracts and put the scenes together in the correct places.
I've had this version on VHS for a few years (but was under strict trading regulations due to its rare nature), so I suggest that the rest of you should keep an eye out on eBay for it.

Alfalfa also appeared in the Charley Chase short, Life Hesitates at 40.
I just realized I spelled "Todd" wrong in my last post. Oops.

Oh yeah, that's pretty well known. Laurel and Hardy and Little Rascals were like "next door neighbors" because they both worked at the Roach Studios and were the two most popular series. They often visited each other on the sets, ate together, etc., so they probably thought why not include the same familiar music in the Laurel and Hardy films?
Once in a while, you can hear the background music in a few other series like Thelma Tood/Zazu Pitts and The Boyfriends.

Are you thinking "The Little Rascals Christmas Special?"
Eh, it's not too much. It's just whatever. Not bad, not good.

Welcome to the board! As many members we have here on the board, you would expect it to be slightly more active than it is. Maybe just give it more time for more people to discover the site. Over a year old is still rather young, especially since Steve Ramsey's site is long gone in recent times and was the first Rascals site.

On VHS... SP mode is 2 hours, and EP is 6 hours. 2 hours is better quality than EP because sometimes EP tapes will not track good on VCRs.
Recording speed is not a concern for storebought DVDs. It's just if you have a set-top DVD recorder (or recordable DVD player) and you're recording a DVD in 6-hour mode, the quality won't be the best.
I recommend obtaining the Little Rascals DVDs by Cabin Fever that you'll always find on eBay. Of course, it's because they're uncut and on *DVD*, very high quality. Unfornately, only the first 12 volumes have been released on DVD. Volumes 13-21 never came out on DVD.

If you were at www.measuresup.com/, then yes, it is legit. The reason I say is because no one says it isn't and never heard of any problems until just now. It might have something to do with the fire she had some time ago and still getting her life back together. That would be my guess. I'm not in regular contact with her. Mark

I always heard Spanky was very bitter later in life. I think it's mostly because he was short on cash and never received any residuals.
I saw an auction on eBay a few times for the rude nasty letter that Spanky wrote in reply to the sender who sent a photo asking to return it autographed. He wrote that he doesn't sign unauthorized photos, and if I remember correctly, he made fun of his spelling and/or grammar. I don't know if I would have ever wanted to see him in person or not, knowing his attitude towards his fans.

Hi JF,
I highly recommend you getting the 8-pack DVD set. The 8-pack set is a combination of everything GoodTimes Home Video put out (except of course, Comedy Festival #2 and one unnecessary video from the "Funniest Episodes" set), which are the Our Gang Collection and The Little Rascals Funniest Episodes with the 1950s television title cards.
Now that you've got Comedy Festival #2, you're good to go. That one unnecessary video from the "Funniest Episodes" set that's not in the DVD set contains School's Out/Follies of 1938/Kid From Borneo. I'm assuming that, like everyone else, you already have School's Out and Follies of '38. But the Kid From Borneo is on another DVD in the 8-pack.

I would get the DVD boxed sets and get "Comedy Festival #2" by itself on VHS. I'm not sure if you can find the VHS by itself in stores anymore, so if you can't, you can always get it on eBay for a good price.
No need to get the VHS missing from the "Funniest Episodes" DVD set as they're public domain anyway (except The Kid From Borneo, but that's on one of the DVDs in the other boxed set).

For some strange reason, when Goodtimes released their Rascals material on DVD, they excluded one of the VHS's from each box set, which were:
~The Funniest Episodes- The Kid From Borneo/School's Out/Our Gang Follies of 1938
~Our Gang Comedy Festival #2
Disappointingly, Festival #2 has never been released on DVD at all.

Thanks for the information! I'm waiting for my copies I ordered from someone on eBay.
It turns out to be mostly public domain films that are already available, except for Stage Fright... and "The Pirates", a retitle from obviously a reissue print. I think it's either The Bucanneers or Seein' Things. I bet it's The Bucanneers.

I wish I knew!
Wow, how wise for the company not to list the contents on their website or anywhere else.
Let's just hope the DVDs don't contain the same public domain films we've seen everywhere for so many years (Bear Shooters, School's Out, Follies of '38, Dogs of War, Derby Day, and Waldo's Last Stand). I'm hoping this 5 DVD set will contain some rare unreleased silents and a number of the later MGM shorts... you know, a good variety mix of all the different periods.
I've been meaning to update this website about the new release, but I have an extremely sick mother who's been struggling to regain her health all year.
