The Our Gang 5 pack VHS contained the Our Gang Comedy Festival 1 and 2. (Mark, you said 2 was one of your favorites). Does anyone know if the 4 pack or 8 pack dvd release of those tapes contained Comedy Festival 2 also. So far in any description of the dvd compilations I can only find that they contain "Our Gang Comedy Festival " which I assume is #1. The fact that the 5 pack vhs runs 7 hours or 420 minutes as opposed to the 341 minutes of run time in the dvd format makes me suspicious. Thanks

For some strange reason, when Goodtimes released their Rascals material on DVD, they excluded one of the VHS's from each box set, which were:
~The Funniest Episodes- The Kid From Borneo/School's Out/Our Gang Follies of 1938
~Our Gang Comedy Festival #2
Disappointingly, Festival #2 has never been released on DVD at all.

Mark,
Assuming you have seen both versions, is the quality of the DVD superior enough to warrant getting that instead of VHS thus not having comedy festival 2 or is it worth having VHS with festival 2?

I would get the DVD boxed sets and get "Comedy Festival #2" by itself on VHS. I'm not sure if you can find the VHS by itself in stores anymore, so if you can't, you can always get it on eBay for a good price.
No need to get the VHS missing from the "Funniest Episodes" DVD set as they're public domain anyway (except The Kid From Borneo, but that's on one of the DVDs in the other boxed set).

Mark,
As luck would have it, my brother-in-law had the comedy #2 vhs and gave it to me! Now my question to you is, aside from all of the other unnecessary stuff you mentioned, does that mean that the Our Gang comedy 4 pack dvd should contain all that I need or is there extra stuff in the 8 pack. Here are the 4 pack specs:THE OUR GANG STORY(Color/B&W, 2 Hours)OUR GANG: LITTLE RASCALS VARIETIES (B&W, 67 Mins): LITTLE RASCALS VARIETIES OUR GANG COMEDY FESTIVAL (B&W, 1 Hour):LITTLE RASCALS GREATEST HITS (Color/B&W, 97 Mins.): They don't give the content of the 8 pack but you may know. Thanks!

Hi JF,
I highly recommend you getting the 8-pack DVD set. The 8-pack set is a combination of everything GoodTimes Home Video put out (except of course, Comedy Festival #2 and one unnecessary video from the "Funniest Episodes" set), which are the Our Gang Collection and The Little Rascals Funniest Episodes with the 1950s television title cards.
Now that you've got Comedy Festival #2, you're good to go. That one unnecessary video from the "Funniest Episodes" set that's not in the DVD set contains School's Out/Follies of 1938/Kid From Borneo. I'm assuming that, like everyone else, you already have School's Out and Follies of '38. But the Kid From Borneo is on another DVD in the 8-pack.

Hi Mark,
Yes I do have those episodes already. Here are the contents of the 8 pack.
_The Little Rascals/The Greatest Hits -The Our Gang Story -Our Gang/Comedy Festival -Little Rascals/Varieties
-Little Papa/Dogs Is Dogs/Sprucin' Up -Hook And Ladder/Hi Neighbor/Sundown Ltd. -The Pooch/Arbor Day/Derby Day -Bear Shooters/Waldo's Last Stand/Dogs Of War!
As the second group of four of the 8 dvd's contain episodes that I already have on various dvd's it would seem that the 4 pack (which are the same as the first group of four, above) would contain everything I need, unless I'm missing something. Thank you so much for all of your help. I have tried your email but for some reason it does't go through. JF
