Even in the early going, the MGM scriptwriters could be a bit punch drunk, at times! Instead of a Showboat in CAPTAIN SPANKY'S well you know, the original setting for the Gang's show was going to be ______________________________________.

In ALLADIN'S LAMP, Leonard Landy was originally supposed to sing ____________________________________________ "Over The Rainbow", but then 'Our Gang' director Gordon Douglas stepped in and proclaimed that there would be plenty of time for sappy remakes of that song after MGM's THE WIZARD OF OZ was released! I guess that's why MGM never had Mr. Douglas direct another 'Our Gang' short after that! __________________________________________ was/were to be the originally the source/s of the WEDDING WORRIES (1941).

Either way, Mr. Mayer, who was reputedly overheard muttering about how the talking animal in a real world setting would be so Universal's speed, was against it! I guess Louis B. was asleep when the TALE OF A DOG (1944) ending was made. Instead of pressing newspapers, GOING TO PRESS (1942) was originally going to be about pressing ____________________________.
