It's been quite awhile since I've seen a Looney Tunes or Merry Melodies cartoon. From what I understand, Cartoon Network are currently re-running the shorts, and have also started airing a new series earlier this month. From what a friend of mine told me, the new series isn't that good.
Getting back on topic, what is your favorite Looney Tunes or Merry Melodies charater? Once again, it's hard for me to choose a favorite.
You have Bugs Bunny, with his ability to almost always cleverly get himself out of any situations. And he has some of the best one-liners. He sort of reminds me of Groucho Marx. Daffy Duck started out as a total nut case, but progressed into a grouchy (but still very funny) character. The panicky Porky Pig was one of the first stars of this series, and rightfully so. Sylvester and Wile E. Coyote are always into mischief, while Tweetie Bird and Road Runner outwit them without even trying. And there's other favorites like Tasmanian Devil, Speedy Gonzales, Pepe Le Pew, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn, and others.

I guess I'd have to go with Bugs Bunny, though Daffy Duck is a close second. I remember Chuck Jones saying that Bugs is who we wish we were, while Daffy is who we actually are. Maybe that's why I give Bugs the edge. I'm also partial to Yosemite Sam, Hubie & Bertie, Elmer Fudd, Marc Anthony, and Frisky Puppy.

I think that Bugs Bunny is everybody's hero, to a certain extent, but I'm going to have to go with Speedy Gonzalez as my all-time favorite. When it comes to some of the other main protagonists of these cartoons, I've always found myself hoping that their personalized ubiquitous opponents would occasionally gain a small victory to break up the general predictability of how the cartoons tended to go. However, I always admired the superhuman physical ability and cunning of Speedy Gonzalez, and never pulled but for him to win.
Of course, Michael Jordan was a member of the Toon Squad basketball team in Space Jam, so if he counts as one of them, then I'm definitely going with "Sir Altitude" as my all-time favorite. :-)

I like Bugs and Daffy, but I prefer the early Daffy to the younger - when he was the instigator instead of the victim. Bugs has always been Bugs, though he put the"Looney" in "Looney" tunes more so earlier in his... career, if you could call it that. They toned them down over the years, eventually to the point of changing or cutting scenes altogether.
I can't stand Tweety. I wish Sylvester would catch him. Of course, I do have a pet cat, so I just might be biased there.
And who can forget the classic Porky Pig hitting his thumb with a hammer and saying, "Son of a bi-bi-bi gun." (And then saying the real thing after that.) If you haven't seen that clip, it's probably availabe on You Tube.

Can I give honorable mention to Marc Anthony and the kitten whose name cannot be mentioned because the website is a prude.

I kind of like them all, except Daffy Duck is quite irritating. I can take him in small doses, but that's about it.
I don't like Pepe Lepew much, either.
