Hey all,
I no longer have any Our Gang silent films on Youtube, nor will I be posting any more. They keep getting pulled due to copyright infringement. None of the Our Gang films I currently had on Youtube were under copyright, but there's no easy way to contest this.
I will keep working on the silent films, but unfortunately, they won't appear online any longer.

Oh for crying out loud! YouTube is SO stupid.

The brief clips I put up are still there.

The brief clips I put up are still there. That's probably because you didn't list "Our Gang" or "Little Rascals" in the video title. Nor do your films have titles that are the same as the original titles. I guess I could post my films with no mention of OG or LR. However, then no one would find them. There's a bunch of Mischief Makers films on Youtube as well that someone else posted. They're tricky to find, but "Ten Years Old", "Big Business" and a couple others are still up.

It really isn't Youtube's fault, though. They just don't want to get sued. Some jackass claims they have a copyright, and they yank it. Easier than trying to untangle the legalities.

Sorry to hear that. I really enjoyed them. Yours had more inter-titles than mine and that makes a big difference in the enjoyment of the film.

It is a shame. I enjoyed seeing them. Many of them I had never seen before.

Since most of the people who would be interested in the videos frequent these message boards, why not post the films with anonymous titles? Then you can put the link on the message boards without drawing the attention of the 'copyright holders.'

You have a good point, ymym. Actually, a lot of people that watched the videos weren't from the message boards. Still, most people here would probably appreciate them more. I had upgraded several of the films since my Youtube postings, so a new post of the films would probably be better anyhow. I may create a new account and post the films there.

ymymeatemup has a good idea there, if you're willing to do it. I hope you go for it one day when you get a chance.

Actually, a lot of people that watched the videos weren't from the message boards. Oh, those are just the unwashed masses. What do they matter?

I just wrote you through Youtube before I saw this thread. Yes, they are looking for the keywords Our Gang and Little Rascals. I did a test - posted a two minute clip using "Little Rascals". It immediately got pulled while the other two "untitled" ones I did stayed up. Youtube isn't the only game in town though.

Antifrodis, I have a suggestion. Have you ever thought of creating your own web site and putting the films on the site. Or Mark could you set up an area on this site and host Antifrodis's films.

Pretty sure that Mark would get threats of lawsuits by the people who are forcing Youtube to remove them.
