Going over movie memorabilia today I found 2 Shirley Temple studio origin photos. One identifies the photographer as Gene Kornman, but says the photo is to be credited from Fox Film. Could the photographer be related to Mildred and Mary Kornman? Don't know how I came into posession of these, except that my mother's cousin was Guy Kibbee who was prominently in a film with Shirley Temple.

Hi Laura June - Gene Kornman was the father of Mary and Mildred. He was a still photographer for the Roach studio in the early twenties, which is how his daughters got into the Gang. He left Roach to follow Harold Lloyd to his own studio. By the mid-30s, he was employed by Fox, not long before their merger with 20th Century. I would guess that most of the studio-generated stills of Shirley were taken by him.

ON THIS THANKSGIVING EVE, IT'S APPROPRIATE TO THANK MARK FOR THIS SITE AND THANK MR. ROACH FOR CREATING HIS LITTLE RASCALS. AS WE BEGIN TO LIVE THROUGH HARD TIMES AGAIN, I REMEMBER THE OLD HARD TIMES OF THE 1930S WHEN LAUGHTER WAS MUCH NEEDED JUST TO MAKE IT THROUGH FROM DAY TO DAY, AND HAL ROACH AND HIS RASCALS SUPPLIED IT IN ABUNDANCE AND FOR A NICKLE AT THE LOCAL MOVIE-HOUSE. HERE'S WISHING ALL YOU RASCAL FANS A HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND HOLIDAY SEASON. LET'S ALL GIVE THANKS FOR THE GREAT HUMAN ABILITY TO LAUGH AND ENJOY HUMOR AND FOR THOSE WHO BRING IT TO US IN MANY AND VARIED WAYS. WITH ALL GOOD WISHES TO VIEWERS OF THIS SITE, LAURA JUNE KENNY

Laura June, I'll be in Death Valley playing golf on Feb. 14th if you are not too busy and feel like a drive.....
Next time you go to your Sons Of The Desert meeting, tell Mr. John Field hello for me. I assume that is the same chapter he belongs to. I supplied him with most of the intermission films he uses during the film showings.
Merry Christmas!
---Wayne

IT'S MID-JANUARY AND I AM STARTING ON A GOAL I HAVE SET FOR MYSELF THIS YEAR OF 2009. LAST NIGHT MY SON, HUSBAND AND I ATTENDED THE DE-MILLE LASKY BARN/HOLLYWOOD MUSEUM MEETING FEATURING MARK VIERA'S TALK ON HIS NEW BOOK ON IRVING THALBERG, THE BOY-GENIUS WHO REALLY BROUGHT M.G.M. TO GREAT PROMINENCE IN THE ERA WHEN M.G.M. TOOK OVER PRODUCTION OF THE LITTLE RASCALS. THALBERG DIED JUST PRIOR TO THIS EVENT. SINCE IT WAS AN EVENING TO HONOR LEGENDARY STUDIO BOSSES, I DECIDED IT WAS TIME FOR ME TO DONATE TO THE MUSEUM COLUMBIA PICTURES STUDIO BOSS HARRY COHN'S DESK FOLDER, HIS NAME INSCRIBED ON IT WITH THE YEARS INDICATED AS 1933-34, THE YEAR HIS STUDIO TOOK A BUNCH OF OSCARS FOR FRANK CAPRA'S MARVELLOUS PRODUCTION OF "IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT." I AM STARTING TO GO THROUGH MY MEMORABILIA AND WILL GIVE MUCH OF IT TO APPROPRIATE MUSEUMS, BUT SOME I WILL BE OFFERING FOR SALE AT THIS SITE BEFORE GOING ON TO ADVERTISE IT AT E-BAY. STAY TUNED. I WANT MY THINGS TO GO WHERE THEY WILL BE APPRECIATED, AND MY FAMILY IS NOT INTERESTED. WHEN YOU TURN 77, YOU KNOW YOU ARE NOT GOING TO LIVE FOREVER BUT YOU WANT TO HONOR THE WONDERFUL LIFE YOU WERE ALLOWED TO LIVE. LAURA JUNE KENNY

I don't think there was ever a treehouse in a Little Rascals short. They always used barns. There was a tree house in "Hi'-Neighbor." Tommy Bupp swings down out of it to join the gain in going to meet Jerry Tucker and his store-bought fire engine. Laura June Kenny is really Laura June Williams; she was a child singer in a few show-in-a-show shorts. She was also one of the few kids to play a munchkin in the Wizard Of Oz with Eva Lee Kuney.

Welcome to the forum, thor2000! I never knew that Kenny was a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz. P.S. Keep up the good work on the Our Gang Wikia!

I had seen Laura June's last name spelled as both Kenny and Kinney, depending on which website was listing the information, so I wasn't sure of the correct way to write it. It must be Kenny, though; she isn't likely to not know her own name!

I never knew that Kenny was a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz. I never knew it either, but I discovered the uncropped photo of her with one of the little people actors in the Steve Cox book, "The Munchkins Remembered." They were the same height at the time of the movie, but by the photo, Laura June had grown up. I perused the list of identified little actors and also recognized Eva Lee Kuney who may have been Patsy Mae Dittemore's stand-in in one of the shorts. Thanks for mentioning the Our Gang Wikia
