I saw a book listing for her on the Barnes and Noble web site. Apparently, she claims to have been a Little Rascal and is exposing how it was such a horrible experience for her, and how she rose above it.
I have never heard of Laura June Kenny, and at one time I practically had Maltin's Little Rascals book memorized.
Have any of you heard of her? Is she legit, or has another imposter popped up?

Most likely an imposter. I mentioned the post in the Yahoo group, "OurGangFollies" to see what others say.
Speaking of OurGangFollies, I need to mention this group on the main page to get more members. It's a great group. Jean Darling, NOT an imposter, is a member there.

Jean Darling? That's awesome.
I was a HUGE Our Gang fan back in the early 80s, before I became a surly teenager who was "too cool" for something like that. It was fairly recently that my interest was re-piqued.
Anyway, back in the day, Jean Darling was one of several Our Gangers with whom I corresponded during that time. She was always good about writing. Maybe I'll have to drop by that group and say hey.

Hello, all you inquiring minds! In case you are wondering, I am Laura June Kenny, the author of the book, "Fleeing the Fates of the Little Rascals." I am not an imposter, and resent them as much as all of you do. In my book, you will see my pay-slip from Hal Roach studios for the great sum of $8.25 for a day's pay as an extra. I have plenty of glossies the studio gave my mother also. In the "Our Gang Follies of 1938," I am one of the four hula-clad little girls who listen to "Alfalfa" in his sailor suit crooning away, and I'm the one who gives the big sigh at the end of his song! I am not in the Maltin book, but his co-writer Richard Bann, whom I met at a book signing, says they left out a lot in the book and he was glad I wrote this book. Wouldn't have missed the experience of being in the movies, but it was "no fun." Hope to meet some of you some time!

As a member of the OurGangFollies group, I learned you're not an imposter, as the person who purchased your book has already read it and let everyone know that you were in Our Gang Follies of 1938. Sorry about the confusion. There's just been countless number of imposters over the many decades.

Hello, Ms. Kenny.
First off, welcome to the group! It's always nice to see new people posting in here. (I'm a newbie myself).
Second off, congratulations on the publication of your book.
And third, thank you for clearing up the confusion. I apologize for having started this thread. I feel like I started a false rumor. (But I'm sure you can understand, like Mark said, the Our Gang cast has been plagued with imposters.)

THANKS A LOT FOR THE NOTE. NO APOLOGY NEEDED. I UNDERSTAND AND DON'T LIKE THE IMPOSTERS EITHER. I HOPE YOU'LL READ MY BOOK AND GAIN INSIGHT INTO THE CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH WE WORKED, ESPECIALLY US EXTRAS! BUT MY LIFE HAS TURNED OUT GREAT AND I WOULDN'T HAVE WANTED TO HAVE MISSED THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING INSIDE THE MOVIE STUDIOS, EVEN IF IT WAS NOT FUN, AS MOST PEOPLE IMAGINE!
ALL THE BEST, LAURA JUNE KENNY :)

Hello, Everyone! Just returned from a flying trip to San Francisco, where I went to high school. Was thrilled to see my old high school among the distinguished schools of "the City." As a thank-you for alumni who support the school, the drama arts and music depts. put on a great show in an auditorium we didn't have back in 1948. I gifted their library and another with my book, because, though I don't believe children should have careers in show business, I believe whole heartedly that regular schools should encourage music and the dramatic arts as priority learning experiences. I notice the book is selling on web-sites throughout the world, so there must be a multitude of fans of the Rascals world-wide. Your web-site should grow! Laura June Kenny

ANYBODY HERE WHO KNOWS THE BURIAL PLACE OF MARY ANN JACKSON, WHO DIED DEC. 17, 2003? I LOOKED ON FINDAGRAVE.COM BUT TO NO AVAIL. I FOUND THAT SITE QUITE USEFUL WHEN WRITING "FLEEING THE FATES OF THE LITTLE RASCALS." ESPECIALLY SO WHEN RESEARCHING THE FATE OF "FROGGY." IT SEEMS A MAN IN PAHRUMP, NEVADA, NEAR MY ONCE DESERT HOME, HAD BEEN PASSING HIMSELF OFF AS "FROGGY" FOR YEARS. I PUT THAT IMPOSTERHOOD TO REST WHEN I DID A BOOK SIGNING AT THE PAHRUMP LIBRARY AND WAS ASKED IF I KNEW THE LOCAL "FROGGY." I WAS ABLE TO SITE WHERE THE REAL "FROGGY" WAS BURIED AT THE AGE OF 16, IN 1948. LAURA JUNE KENNY

.....sorry no help on the grave site..... Good for you for letting it be known about "fake froggy" in his own home town Next time I'm in the "Biggest Little City" (Reno) I will stop by the Barnes & Noble and look for your book. Would it be too much to ask to have you sign it? I'll pick up the postage each way. OPT

Mary Ann Jackson died? I thought she was still alive. Internet Movie Database says she died in 1991, but I'm pretty certain that's incorrect. Your book sounds very interesting, Laura. Were you in any Our Gang films other than "Follies?"

HELLO! I READ YOUR INQUIRY VERY LATE LAST NIGHT AFTER AN EVENING OF RESEARCH. SORRY I JUST WAS TOO TIRED TO ANSWER THEN. AS A WEE CHILD I WAS TAKEN TO MEGLIN KIDDIES, A DANCING SCHOOL. AS A RESULT, I APPEARED FOR A NANO-SECOND IN "MIKE FRIGHT" AND "BEGINNER'S LUCK." AFTER THOSE, "OUR GANG FOLLIES OF 1936," "REUNION IN RHYTHM," "OUR GANG FOLLIES OF 1938," WHICH WAS MY TWO SECONDS OF A CLOSE-UP, AND LASTLY "PARTY FEVER," APPEARING NEXT TO WALDO IN A CROWD, THEN "ALLADIN'S LANTERN." AT AGE NINE, THERE WERE NO MORE MOVIE STINTS FOR ME. THANKS FOR ASKING, LAURA JUNE

Then you WERE listed after all in Maltin & Bann's book - sort of. In the cast listings for several of the episodes, they have credited "The Meglin Kiddies" or sometimes "Ten Meglin Kiddies". They just weren't specific about who those kiddies were.

HELLO! WHEN MY YOUNGER SON GAVE ME THE MALTIN/BANN BOOK OVER 25 YRS. AGO I WAS DISAPPOINTED AT NOT FINDING MY NAME, FOR I HAD A PAY-SLIP AND PHOTOS THE STUDIO GAVE US AND THEY PROVED THAT I WORKED IN THE OUR GANG, FIRST AT THE HAL ROACH STUDIO AND THEN AT METRO AFTER THE LATTER BOUGHT UP THE GANG. BESIDES I HAD VIVID MEMORIES AS WELL. WHEN I MET RICHARD BANN AT A BOOK-SIGNING AT THE LONE PINE FILM FESTIVAL, HE SAID THEY HAD MADE A LOT OF ERRORS, FOR I WAS APOLOGIZING FOR MIS-SPELLING HIS NAME IN MY BOOK AND GIVING IT TWO "M'S". PROBABLY LOTS OF EXTRAS, LIKE ME, WERE NOT CATALOGUED, THUS NO RECORDS. EVEN WITH MY BIG CLOSE-UP IN THE FOLLIES OF'38 I WAS NOT LISTED, BUT IWAS THERE INDEED. LAURA JUNE
