Gotta go with the Hawaii 5.0 theme. Never missed the the intro to that show when I was a kid. Don't think I ever watched an episode though.
The Peter Gunn theme was pretty amazing as well.
But speaking for my 6 year old self, there was nothing like the Speed Racer theme for sheer anticipation. Adventure's waiting just ahead! I can't see what I saw in the show now, but I sure did love it then.

Let's see here, a list of my favorite T.V. show theme songs... Well, in the "Favorite Sitcoms" thread I mentioned the PBS program Arthur as a current favorite television series of mine, and I'm also partial to its theme song, which is performed by Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. For anyone unfamiliar with this band, Ziggy is Bob Marley's son.
It's hard to surpass the quality of the opening song of The Andy Griffith Show. The laid-back whistling style of the rendition is a perfect fit for the whole attitude of the series.
Personally, I've always loved the theme to Mr. Ed. I had practically memorized all of the words before I entered Kindergarten! "A horse is a horse, of course, of course..." :-)
Family Matters features one of my favorite theme music selections from the 1990s. It's a warm and optimistic song that fosters a feeling of goodwill before each episode really even begins.
Of course, there are many, many others that I've liked very much, but I thought that I would just highlight a handful of them.

^I agree about Family Matters, I like that song too. "Daaays goooo byyy..."
And I've been watching the remake of Hawaii 5-0 on CBS, and I agree, that theme song is awesome!

I didn't think to include Leroy Shield's Good Old Days theme from the T.V. series version of The Little Rascals (probably because I generally think of them more as short movies) on my list, but it certainly would be right up there with the very best theme music selections, in my appraisal. That short tune is strikingly effective at evoking poignant emotion, and it fits the ambience of the Our Gang films beautifully.

Yeah, I know that technically Our Gang films aren't TV shows (although they've been syndicated on TV, I consider them short movies too) but I felt that I had to mention it in this thread. I sort of think of it as a "theme song" to films.

The "Family Matters" theme song is a favorite of mine, too. The "Arthur" theme song is also pretty high on my list. "Diff'rent Strokes" also had a pretty enjoyable theme, and the theme to "Gilligan's Island" was pretty catchy! Recently, I became a fan of the "Here Come the Double Deckers!" TV series (which was apprently based on "Our Gang"), and I have to admit they had a pretty catchy theme as well. The "Happy Days" theme is a great fit for the show itself.
Another favorite is "Linus and Lucy" (a.k.a. "The Peanuts Theme"). And the theme to the "Tom and Jerry Kids" show has a nice late 80s/early 90s feel to it (though the original "Tom and Jerry" cartoons were far better).
Though none of these are TV show... "The Good Old Days" by LeRoy Shield was a beautiful fit to "The Little Rascals" (the "Our Gang" melody that David Snell wrote for the MGM shorts doesn't hold a candle to this one!). "That Old Gang of Mine" was another good match for the series.
For other Roach series, Marvin Hatley's "Dance of the Cuckoos" matched Laure and Hardy's character perfectly. "Gangway, Charley!" defines Charley Chase pretty well. And "Beautiful Lady" was an obvious fit for Thelma Todd.
The Bowery Boys (again, not a TV show) also used a handful of nice theme tunes, and the Three Stooges (ditto) almost always had either "Listen to the Mocking Bird" or "Three Blind Mice" as their theme.

The Leroy Shield opening music for The Little Rascals can be considered a T.V. theme, I'd say. I usually differentiate between the films as short movies or the television series they were later repackaged as by referring to them with the Our Gang handle in the former case, and as The Little Rascals in the latter.
Of course, this thread is called "Your favorite theme song", with no mandate that the themes be from television, so it works out just fine either way. :-)

DuckTales had a theme song as memorable as that of any other series I've seen, and the opening music for The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh captured the same feeling as the 1977 full-length animated classic film, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. I can't think of Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers without another Disney series from the same time period, TaleSpin, coming to mind. I've heard the rumors about Kit Cloudkicker having been modeled at least partly on Scotty Beckett's Our Gang character, but I haven't yet found anything solid online to substantiate that.

Talespin was one of my favorite cartoons growing up (I loved the 80s/90s Disney cartoons when I was little). That's really interesting about the Scotty Becket/Kit thing. I've never heard that rumor before, but that would make sense if it was true; the cap, the sweater... I can see the similarities.

The Untouchables [1959], especially the first season closing theme-a little slower than in later seasons.
