Poking around the Internet, found a reprint of OUR GANG COMICS #39, with a story featuring the ever-popular grass skirt look.
Briefly, the three Gang boys borrow a houseboat and sail out to a nearby island. There, they weigh anchor and go skinny-dipping, semi-demurely of course. We see one boy fully nude in profile for two panels, with everyone remaining discreetly concealed by water or objects otherwise. (Should also note, by this time Walt had largely dropped the 'movie' Gangsters; only Buckwheat, called Bucky, and Janet, called Janey, remained.) Leaving their clothes on the boat, the boys play around with making grass skirts but have trouble keeping them up. Meanwhile, Janey and another girl have learned there's a storm coming and row out to warn the boys, unaware of the consternation their appearance has caused among the suddenly modest lads. This eventually leads into an adventure with some outlaws, as it often did in Kelly OUR GANG stories.
