Pete went through changes too. They had to replace the dogs as they died or moved on. The original Pete was replaced in 1930 after he was poisined, but him and his replacement are the best "actors". Sometimes they seem to really be expressing emotion! Watch "When the Wind Blows" as Jackie is getting spanked. Watch as Pete reacts to every single slap!

In Dogs Is Dogs,Pete actually has a tear in his eye when Wheezer gets violent spankings from his mean stepmother. At the end of The First Roundup, where Pete sees Spanky and Scotty running away while zipped up in their sleeping bag, thinking he saw a walking sleeping bag,the look in his eyes indicate that he thinks he must be going coockoo.

Yeah, but that last part was drawn by an animator. In Dogs is Dogs that is the part where I started to cry. I was so sad for Wheezer. If I could hug any of those kids they would suffocate!
