I have a 16mm reel of an our gang comedy entitled "Under the Tent". I can not find this listed on any filmographies. Is anyone familiar with this title or have I discovered a lost film?

I have a 16mm reel of an our gang comedy entitled "Under the Tent". I can not find this listed on any filmographies. Is anyone familiar with this title or have I discovered a lost film? It's either a re-title of an Our Gang short or a re-title of a rip-off series labeled as an Our Gang. Many of these old films were given new names for the home movie market.

Hi and welcome. It is most probably a retitled home movie version of The First Round Up, which involved the Gang sleeping out of doors. I'm sure that one of the resident experts here will know for certain. Have you watched it and do you know who is in it?

Looked through my notes and did find "Under the Tent" amongst alternate home movie titles. It's from Exclusive Movie Studios, so it would have to be one of the Pathe silents. My money is on the circus themed "Jubilo, Jr.," but I'm just guessing.
Oh, and yes, welcome to the forum!

it was from exclusive movie studios. I have not watched the film as I am having trouble accessing a 16mm projector. Still trying though. I am using a magnifying glass and looking at the opening for the film and can recognize farina and joe.
Hopefully after i watch watch the film I’ll see will Rogers and know you were accurate on the Jubilo jr guess.
The film itself came from my wife’s family home.
Her grandfather was a lifelong friend of Hal roach so we assume this is where it came from.

Can you guess the actor's ages? The first film I thought of was "The Big Show," with the gang trying to sneak into the county fair, which had some tents.

If Farina and Joe were in it that definitely rules out The First Round Up. It's an earlier movie.

I'm pretty sure it's from the latter half of "The Big Show".

I'm pretty sure it's from the latter half of "The Big Show". Ah, thanks. I was tempted to add "Circus Fever" too, but ironically there's hardly anything circus related in that one. it was from exclusive movie studios. I have not watched the film as I am having trouble accessing a 16mm projector. Still trying though. I'm not sure how involved Roach was with Exclusive other than making the deal and giving them access to the film library. Exclusive, which was also apparently known as Excel, was a home movie company in Chicago. They released several of the Pathe Gang silents during the late '30s and early '40s in various formats - anywhere from a full two reels down to a smaller fragment. You'll know an Exclusive print by the opening title card that features the Our Gang kids around an old fence.

Exclusive, which was also apparently known as Excel, was a home movie company in Chicago. They released the 66 Pathe Gang silents during the late '30s and early '40s in various formats - anywhere from a full two reels down to a smaller fragment. You'll know an Exclusive print by the opening title card that features the Our Gang kids around an old fence. I don't think they had access to all 66 films. I can think of several films off the top of my head that I don't believe they released in any format. It seems that Kodak may have released a few that Exclusive didn't. BTW, I came across some old notes that I had from Robert Demoss, and listed next to "Under the Tent" was "Circus Fever". So we still may need to confirm what film this is.

Can you post a picture of a frame? There are people here who excel at identifying a film from a single frame (I'm not in the top group of that, but not completely hopeless.) Or if you can make out words on a title card.

Thanks to all of you for the thoughts. The opening title card above is exactly what my film has (except of course the title is 'Under the Tent". I have no way to capture a frame I am thinking the likelihood is either the Circus Fever, the Big SHow, or possibly Jubilo Jr. Jubilo was a guess made by Robert Demoss through separate correspondence. Hopefully Ill find a projector and be able to confirm for sure what I have.
My wife's grandfather grew up in Elmira, NY. This is where Hal Roach was also from. They were kids together and I understand were friends throughout their lives.
