The guy on the left is Harry Earles (or "Harry Doll" as he's called here), whom 'Our Gang' fans may remember from "Baby Clothes" and "Baby Brother." And of course, he was featured heavily in the movie "Freaks." Anyway, RIP Jerry. Glad to see he lived such a long life. I'd assumed he was the last surviving "Oz" player, but weren't there at least a few children used in the Munchkin sequence? I know Priscilla Montgomery was somewhere in the mix, and she's still with us. EDIT: Yep, about ten kids were pulled from the Bud Murray school to round out the Munchkin cast. One of them, Betty Ann Cain Bruno, recalled a time when one of the adult munchkins unsuccessfully tried to ask her out for lunch! Unfortunately, the kid Munchkins were snubbed during the ceremony for the Munchkin's star on the Walk of Fame. While invited to the ceremony, they weren't permitted to take part in the introductions, or the unveiling of the star.

The guy on the right is Jakob 'Jackie' Gerlich. He was three years older than Jerry, although he doesn't look it. He was born in Austria and quite sensibly emigrated to the USA in 1936. Somehow I doubt that the Nazi regime would have looked favorably on people like him. Jackie appeared in just two movies, Oz and East Side Of Heaven (also 1939), with Bing Crosby. Junior Coghlan also appeared in it. Jackie was primarily a performer with both Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circuses. Jackie died in 1960, aged just 43, after a long battle with cancer.

Kurt 'Harry' Earles was born in 1902, so he was considerably older than the other two Lollipop Guild members. Kurt was born in Germany and his family emigrated to the USA in 1915. Harry Doll was the stage name he used, as a circus performer. He was part of an act called The Doll Family, along with his three sisters, who were all midgets too. Harry died in 1985, aged 83.

I've just watched East Side Of Heaven (1939) starring Bing Crosby and even though I'm not a fan of him it was an entertaining enough movie. The movie is available to watch (or download) in two parts on YouTube. Junior Coghlan had about 3 seconds (maximum) screen time as a Telegram Delivery Boy, even though he was aged 23 at the time. Jakob 'Jackie' Gerlich had only a small role (no pun intended) as a hotel bellhop but his role was crucial to the plot. Furthermore unlike in his only other movie appearance, in the Wizard Of Oz, Jakob's real features weren't buried under layers of make up. He was a good looking little guy.

Should also mention, if I remember right Harry Earles also co-starred with Lon Chaney in both the silent and sound versions of THE UNHOLY THREE.
