Find the picture you want to use. Copy the url. Click on "profile." Click on "modify profile." Scroll down to where it asks for an avatar url. Note the size restrictions. Save it, and you should be good.

The url is the web address in your address bar.

Post the link here, or send it to me via private message. I will try it with mine to make sure it works.

OK- that is a URL, but there are 2 problems with it: 1) You need a URL which isolates the photo from the background of the page 2) The picture is too big. The max size for pics is 100X100 pixels. Here is an example of the URL of an isolated photo that is 75X100 pixels: www.stargalleries.com/o/ourgang/spankymcfarland3b.jpgTry this: Go to www.google.com. Click on image. Search for Spanky, Scotty, or whatever, until you find a photo you like that is small enough. Click on the photo. This will bring up a small photo at the top, and the full page context below. Click the "See full-size image" link next to the photo. This will isolate the photo from the rest of the page. Copy the URL listed in the address bar. Remember, the photo can be no larger than 100X100 pixels.

Ok, I'll do this for you, sidewayscap...
If you were doing this yourself, you would right-click the photo you would want to use for your avatar and then hit "Properties." You'll find the URL to the photo you want to use, highlight, and copy it. Then you would modify your profile here and scroll down to where it asks for Avatar URL if you want to use a photo from somewhere on the internet as your avatar. If the photo is BIGGER than 100X100 pixels, no problem- you can resize the photo as you're adding your avatar in your profile by just typing in the image size (pixels).
I edited out the extra space in the picture to the right and left of Spanky and Scotty so that their faces won't get too small and look so funny when the image has been resized to make it small enough to use for an avatar.
When you want to change your avatar and use a different picture in the future, just remember these steps.

Thank you very much Mr Brumfield. And thanks of course to zootmoney too! I'll delete this post as soon as I copy down what was written here, so it won't waste anybody else's time!
