If you could go back in time and whisper into Hal Roach's ear, and influence his casting choices, which actor or actors of the period would like to have seen as regular members of Our Gang? You can nominate them as additions to the series or as replacements for any Our Gang member(s) who you'd like to have seen given the boot.

A classic choice, I'm right with you on that one. They could also have introduced his younger brother Robert as Jackie got a little too old for the movies.

I'd also nominate Darryl Hickman. I know that he did make a guest appearance in one of the later Our Gang movies but if he'd been allowed to play a character like the wise cracking 'Flip' who he'd played in Men Of Boys Town (1941), he'd have been a wonderful addition to the Gang and also a welcome antidote to the anodyne, patriotic, moralist mush that the rest of the Our Gang regulars had been mired in.

I'd also tell Mr Roach that having Shirley Temple or Mickey Rooney for one short might be worth a try.

Spec O'Donnell, if he wasn't already too old. Then again, he may have been a bit too similar to Mickey Daniels.

Spec O'Donnell was in Little Annie Rooney in 1925, with Mary Pickford, so he'd have been okay for the early Our Gang movies. In fact he would have made a great older brother for Mickey Daniels.

Thinking of Little Annie Rooney, Joe Butterworth, who had a fight with Mary Pickford, would have been really good in Our Gang, as a tough kid. He was really good (and bad too) in The Good Bad Boy (1924). Oh yeah and that was great suggestion by harold to have Mickey Rooney & Shirley Temple guest in an episode each, then all those people who've claimed that they were in Our Gang would actually have been right, instead of simply plain wrong.
