LOUIS without realizing it was Joe Cobb that played the most undesirable Clinton Badger that Esther Smith (Judy Garland) had written on Lucille Ballard's (June Lockhart) Dance Card! As his final cinematic appearance, Joe certainly went out on a high of sorts, appearing in a Grade A (I say A+) MGM Technicolor Musical! Though I don't really consider Darryl Hickman a full fledged 'Our Gang' member, his appearance in the Halloween sequence is also quite memorable! Also, while I was well aware of Robert Blake's appearance in THE TREASURE OF SIERRA MADRE, I had no idea Bobby "Bonedust" Young was also in this! There's many worthwhile appearances in this batch of Films, for those who can check these out! CHEERS!

But as far as post-OG films go, Joe was definitely in 1941's "Where Did You Get That Girl?". www.helenparrish.com/uploads/1/0/7/7/10771938/8282976_orig.jpg

LOUIS. Joe Cobb definitely does NOT play Clinton Badger, or either of the other "Dance Card" duds that Esther Smith dances with! Of course, try telling IMDB that! There seems to be a grand tradition of MGM contract bit players getting confused for former Hal Roach players. Take Chester Clute being mistaken for Jimmy Finlayson, for instance! CHEERS!

I'm just adding my 2ยข: Having just seen "Meet Me in St. Louis," I will affirm that that's not Joe Cobb. Possibly it's the other "Joe Cobb," though. "Soul Train" had two announcers, one who did most of the voice over (the late Sid McCoy), and the other who uttered the high-pitched train whistle-sounding "SOOOOOOOOOULLLLL TRAIN!" (Just kidding. I suspect that the actor playing Clinton looks more like the Gang's Cobb than the Train's Cobb.

So, my question is, was The Bohemian Girl and The Bat (both of which Darla Hood appeared in) already released to DVD?

So, my question is, was The Bohemian Girl and The Bat (both of which Darla Hood appeared in) already released to DVD? Indeed they are, Darla Fan. The best copy of The Bohemian Girl is on the Laurel and Hardy Essential Collection. But if you'd rather just check out that one title, at least one cheaper DVD copy with pretty decent quality is out there. The Bat is, if I'm not mistaken, in the public domain, and therefore shouldn't be too hard to find. Check YouTube if you want to save a few bucks. Also of note for Our Gang and Roach fans, on Apr 26, TCM will be running a massive Edgar Kennedy marathon, showcasing many of his feature film work, as well as a number of his RKO shorts.

CHEERS! Uh huh! Precisely why I mentioned them. WAY OUT WEST is easily my favorite Laurel and Hardy movie. Question - were there multiple Dinahs? I don't know much about mules, but I was always rather surprised that she was still in such good shape in 1937.

I don't know much about mules, but I was always rather surprised that she was still in such good shape in 1937. Actually, there were two Dinah's in WAY OUT WEST. I hate to bring this up, but one of them (the original Dinah, I think?) died tragically during that Film's shooting. I believe this was brought up on one of the Randy Skretvedt/Richard W. Bann commentaries included in The Essential Collection DVD set version, though I was aware of this sad fact since at least the early to mid '80s. I believe it was on the late great Elwy Yost's "Saturday Night At The Movies" (Which aired WAY OUT WEST) program that aired in our province for so many years, that I first heard about this. That said, WAY OUT WEST is my favorite Laurel & Hardy Film, as well! Even the first time I ever saw it at about age 12, I sensed that there was something a little extra special about this one! CHEERS!

Some neat films coming up! I've been curious about "You Said a Mouthful," the Joe E. Brown film Farina costarred in almost immediately after leaving Our Gang. Listed in the category of "Also starring" are the big name principal cast members of each film, as well as other Our Gang-related names (Clarence Wilson, Jim Mason, Margaret Mann, Zeffie Tilbury, etc.).
ANDY HARDY'S DOUBLE LIFE (1942) - Sunday, June 19 - 12:00 PM - with ROBERT BLAKE.
Also starring Lewis Stone, Mickey Rooney, Esther Williams, Frank Couglan, Jr., and Robert Emmett O'Connor.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN (1950) - Monday, June 20 - 6:00 AM - with DICKIE JONES.
Also starring Errol Flynn, Patricia Wymore, and Scott Forbes.
