While not all that great and not one of my favorites I'm glad to see they've finally released it to DVD.

Yes, indeed! We finally have all of the talkies out on DVD.
Now all we need is all of the surviving silent material to get a release...
Pigs can't fly, right?

Thanks for the heads up, guys! My DVD came in the mail today. I took a quick look. It looks pretty good, considering I'm used to the slightly blurry and soft laserdisc picture.
Now a proud owner of all the uncut talking films on DVD, as well as the German 1927-1929 MGM silent set!

I've finally just ordered the GENERAL SPANKY DVD-R, via a Canadian Amazon Marketplace seller, as Amazon Canada doesn't offer it directly.
It'll be great to finally have commercially released versions of all the 'Our Gang' 1929-1944 sound films!
By the way, does anyone know whether the aforementioned German 1927-1929 MGM silent set is still attainable, and does it contain all 17 extant 'Our Gang' silents from that period?
CHEERS!

As the pricing looks to be quite reasonable, and Kinowelt was known for releasing quality discs (I believe they're not in business, anymore?), I'll likely order this at some point, though I'm tapped out, at the moment! CHEERS!

As of this morning, I'm still waiting for my GENERAL SPANKY Warner Archive DVD to arrive via Amazon Marketplace. I know the estimated delivery date range is February 12-19, but I've been spoiled by within 48 hour free delivery (Often less than that!) when I'm able to order directly through Amazon Canada, which unfortunately, is not currently an option for this particular title! I suppose I should consider myself fortunate that ordering through the Amazon Canada website is even an option, which at least made GENERAL SPANKY just affordable enough for me to pick it up this month! First world problems! My 'Our Gang' 1929-1944 sound collection shall soon be complete! Then, it's on to the Hal Roach/MGM silents! CHEERS!

Amazon.de does ship overseas. I used that to get the 1927-1929 set... with the help of language translator to navigate through the process. :-)

My GENERAL SPANKY (1936) Warner Archive Single Layer DVD-R order finally arrived in today's mail! Aside from the obligatory Piracy Warning Screen, the only extra (No Captions or Subtitles!) is a very simple Menu Screen, which is basically a cropped version of the Movie Poster that can be seen on the DVD's Front Cover! Included is the Play Movie button and the warnerarchive.com web address. From what little I've seen of the visuals, while it's a noticeable improvement over the TCM Broadcasts, probably falls into the somewhat better than serviceable category, as opposed to anything approaching pristine quality. Unfortunately, I'm unable to post my screenshots on this page. For those who want to see these, they're accessible via this link: www.hometheaterforum.com/threads/general-spanky-1936-warner-archive-dvd-r-release.345705/#post-4349393CHEERS!
