Thanks, elvinmasih! I enjoy the colorized prints just as much as I do the black and white prints. From the description, it sounds like among the shorts to be included are "Birthday Blues", "Honkey-Donkey" (was this one ever colorized by King World?), and "Pay as You Exit". I just hope that this DVD doesn't have the same issues that last two Legend releases had.

The Boys of Our Gang? I think The Girls of Our Gang would've been more interesting... not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, but aren't most of the films focused on boys anyway? Still, I like the DVD art a lot.

Thanks for the link, zootmoney. Looks like this DVD will contain five shorts, including "Free Eats", "Mush and Milk", and the never before colorized "Lazy Days". This one also boasts a bonus silent short from 1926.

The Boys of Our Gang? I think The Girls of Our Gang would've been more interesting... not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, but aren't most of the films focused on boys anyway? They probably just thought that it was a catchy title, and gave out sort of a "good ol' boys" type of vibe. I could imagine a release like the one that you mentioned, though. Featuring, perhaps, the best of Mary Kornman, Jean Darling, Mary Ann Jackson and Darla Hood. :-) Still, I like the DVD art a lot. I do, too. Even Kendall McComas is pictured with the other lead stars. The only Our Gang short that I've ever seen in color was Waldo's Last Stand. I tend to prefer black-and-white film, but I can see how offering the Our Gang shorts in color would broaden their appeal to include some people who otherwise might not be interested.

And lets not forget Alfalfa in "Mail and Female". How true, how true. But then, we also can't leave unmentioned his participation in the motley crew Flory-Dorys number that brought down the house in Our Gang Follies of 1936. ;-)

Yes, and also Spanky and Alfalfa in Rushin' Ballet and The New Pupil. Plus Buckwheat in Pay As You Exit, Froggy in Surprised Parties, Mickey Daniels in Giants Vs. Yanks and Jubilo Jr., and Farina in about half the films before Every Man for Himself.
It is a good point that the boy-girl ratio was so lopsided. It would be interesting to see how the series would have gone with a more balanced cast.

Amazon says that both DVDs are currently out of stock. That's disappointing.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the DVDs pictured in the links say "In Their Original & Un-Cut, Black-And-White Format". Legend Films does a great job of colorizing, but I see nothing about color at the Amazon links.

That is odd. I think everyone just assumed they were colorized also. On a good note, Amazon shows 2 left in stock of "Boys of Our Gang," and mine is being prepared for shipment. The other says it ships in 10-12 days.

I made that same assumption, I guess, in conjunction with what everyone else had been saying about the prints being in color. The fact that the pictures on the cover of the DVD case are colorized may have helped to further our collective thinking that the shorts, themselves, had been given similar treatment.

The 1926 film in Boys of Our Gang is Monkey Business, which is completely silent. The sound films come from the Kids ans Pets releases.
