Have you ever noticed how Darla's hair seems to change colours in different episodes? In most she has dark hair, but in others (e.g. The Amateurs, when she is late for the radio contest and Alfalfa sings 'I'm In the Mood For Love' in her place) she's blond?
Why is this?

Her hair was dyed blond in 1936 because of her role in Laurel and Hardy's "The Bohemian Girl."

I remember being so confused when I was younger about Darla's hair color. I always wondered why it was blonde in some films... at the time I figured that they were just trying something new with her, to see what hair color they liked best.

For some reason, I never really noticed that Darla's hair was sometimes blonde in the Our Gang films until I heard someone mention it. Ordinarily I tend to be very detail oriented, but when it comes to some matters of personal appearance—hair color, for instance—changes often escape my notice. I just always recognized her as Darla, and so the switch from brunette to blonde didn't catch my attention. Maybe it would be easier to spot the difference on color film.

The reason why her hair was blonde was for her role in Laurel and Hardy's" The Bohemian Girl " 1936.
In this she plays Arline as a Child.
