Hello, I have a question. My dad, Dene Beaver, and his twin brother Gene Beaver, were in the cast of Our Gang as babies. My dad was born in June 1927... I don't remember what year he said he was in the show but it must have been 1928, or 1929...Or maybe late 1927, I'm not sure... He used to have some photos and an autograph book from back then, but when I was real little I colored in the book.. ( believe me he was UPSET! ) Anyhow, I was wondering if there are any copies of the shows he and his brother were in... My dad has since passed and It would be nice to see him in the show, And it would be nice to have something to show his grandkids.....Does any one have any information???

hmmmm.... I guess the question here is: Do you have any more information? You say you colored in the autograph book but did you save the photo's? Do you have any childhood (baby) photo's of him and his brother? He's not credited in the Leonard Maltin book or on the International Movie Database (IMBD.com) and nothing on Google. So it's basically up to you to show any proof he was in the comedy series. I'm sure he or his parents must've saved some personal photo's from back then!?
Otherwise... he could've been just another imposter! I live in New Jersey and remember reading this long obituary back in the 90's of a car dealer from Toms River who starred as Freckles on the Our Gang series. Strange thing was he was just an imposter, a person never seen on the series. In fact another imposter named Jack Bothwell went on To Tell the Truth years earlier saying HE was Freckles!! Buckwheat and Darla had imposters in the 70's, they popped up often back then. Why??? Maybe they did try out for the series as a child or win some moviehouse look-a-like contest back then and believe they were a Gangster. Or maybe they were just looking for their 15 minutes of fame.
I don't know.... but I heard this same story many times and it's kind of strange that the person can never present actual proof their Mom or Pop was actually in the Our Gang.

My Dad was born in Long Beach, Ca in 1927. You have to realize I'm only 26 , by the time my dad had me, his mom, and brother and had both passed away. His dad died when I was 5 So basically there is no one I could ask about that time. I remember pictures of him and his brother in a baby carriage on a Studio set with his mom. He had a bunch of old time souveniors. My mom however being an alocholic sold most of everyhting...I mean everything we owned, including my dads stuff. I'm not looking for fame, But I would like to have a momento To show my kids Something their grandpa did. SO I WAS JUST WONDERING.... If there were any old copies of the show, or any information, somewhere about those shows. Thats all I Wanted to know.... Geeez

In fairness to most people seeking info on their relatives, most are probably not making stuff up. They were told by their relatives that they were in the Gang. Whether or not the alleged Gangster was aware that they weren't in the Gang is hard to determine.

spankees wasn't trying to be rude, he was just saying that it could be a possibility. He might of also been in a rivaling kids series, sometimes titled Our Gang comedies [without copyright]. I understand that you aren't trying to get fame. If my grandpa was in a mvie I would do just what you did. Sorry for the misunderstanding

I understand. Maybe it was some other "Our Gang" series...Or maybe not... I'm not sure. But I did see pictures, And there was an "Our Gang" autograph book in our home, But unfortunately I no longer have the pictures or the book. And I guess there are probably imposter's out there, just looking for some fake fame, But my dad was an honest man, and I don't believe he would lie about such a thing. So I will continue to look for any further information. If any one has any info , I hope they will share. Good day to all... Stay Happy

I wasn't trying to say your father lied to you or that he was an impostor but you don't give enough information for us to I.D. him. One thing you could do is go to the google image search and look up "Our Gang" and "Little Rascals" and see if you can find the photo you say you had. There's a bunch of photo's online and maybe you'll get lucky. I'd also like to know if he was in the silents or talkies.... that would narrow down your search tremendously. Do you remember any of the other kids names that appeared in the series when he did? Looking at the years you gave he might've appeared when Jean Darling did. Another thing you could try doing is contacting Jean Darling and asking her. How? Simply go to her website at: indigo.ie/~jdarling/ Go to the bottom of the page to her contact info. and you'll be able to email her personnally! I've written to her many times for information for my Petey website and is a really nice woman who seems to enjoy speaking of her Our Gang days. Hope this helps.... Good Luck!

Start here ---> www.tv.com/little-rascals/show/10343/episode_guide.html Then find all the titles in the year(s) you think they were in the shorts, AND ad a few extra before and after you think they were in the shorts. (records back then were off a little sometimes) They even have several cast members names listed in the descriptions. NEXT, locate and and all VHS or DVD's of those episodes and see if any of the kids match any old pictures you may have of your father and his brother.

Well, I'm the one who put that information in TV.com (when it was still TV Tome), so my recommendation is to forget about that and go to my website, theluckycorner.com, which is more complete.

There's a set of baby twins in "Baby Brother." IIRC, that film came out in 1928.

They're identified in the Maltin & Bann book as Richard and Robert Smith, and that film was released in June 1927, the same month the Beaver twins were born. The boys in the film look like they're about two already.

The name Beaver does sound familier though... he may have been in a rival kid series... or did we already say that?
