My friend (The W of C-W films) knows Paul Gierucki, and wrote to him recently asking which titles of the silent Our Gang films he was restoring or planning to release. He also asked him if he would be interested in using any of my own restorations of the silent films. He hasn't replied yet, but I'll let you know when he does. If I can get another company to release my restorations, you will see them a lot sooner than if I release them myself because of the costs involved, etc.

Robin, I hope your friend keeps sending letters & they use your films. (for a good price for you) Please keep us updated. It is kind of like a kid waiting for X-mas, waiting for new Our Gang/Little Rascals stuff to be released.

I'm waiting on a *LOT* of stuff to be released, not just Little Rascals stuff, and they take a loooong time. So that stinks.

I still haven't heard any more about the silent films that Laughsmith are planning to release. My friend has e-mailed Paul Gierucki several times but he still hasn't answered. If they take this long to answer e-mails, I wonder how long it would take them to release the films?! (Although I know it takes time to restore films). Perhaps they've nearly finished if they are talking about releasing them. I'll still release the rare films that I've got myself. If I know there is a lot of interest in the silent films, I'll try to release them sooner if I know I'll at least get the money back that I've spent on them, etc. There would be 3 films on a DVD. How many of you would be interested in the silents?

Raising my hand here, I'd buy it for sure.
To generate more sales at ebay, try using this category: DVDs & Movies > DVD and not using the sub-category of silents. Silents does not come up in the general search, and you will miss several potential customers.

More silent on DVD!!!!! (Drools profusely) I have to have them! I hope they wil have them somewhere other than ebay though. (Bleah, auctions) but if that is what it takes... A question though. When Cabin Fever released a few they all had severly irritating calliope music on them. It is approopriate at first but ughh! after a while. Will these ones have different music?

In reply to sidewayscap's message, I don't know what kind of music the 'Laughsmith' releases will have but my releases (C-W Films), won't be as bad as the 'Cabin Fever' silents. The only good one of theirs is "Cat, Dog & Co." as it's the original soundtrack from 1929 - although the film has got a scene missing where Pete the Dog puts his paws onto his head! The music is edited out a bit just after this scene. My releases will be on eBay and I'll let you know on this message board when they come out. I'm planning to have a website in the near future telling people about my restorations. The next release will probably be "Telling Whoppers" (a one reel version) "The Fourth Alarm" and "Derby Day" on one DVD. I'm working on "Your Own Back Yard" at the moment. The DVD will include a short interview with Hal Roach from 1986 talking about that very film!

Did the Library of Congress already send you a copy of the 2nd half of Your Own Back Yard?
