Hi,
I recently bought Vol 1-12 of the Cabin Fever set on 6 DVDs. My first Q is, are these bootlegs? It seems odd they'd put 2 volumes on 1 DVD. Also the inserts look a bit fuzzy.
My second and more important question is, I see there are about 12 other volumes available. Are these other volumes available on the Cabin Fever label? I can't seem to find them if they are. I do see a 24 volume (12 disc) set, but I don't want to gamble on non-Cabin fever releases (also the 12 disc set doesn't come with covers).
Thanks, Ed

Ed, is sounds like you have real cabin fever DVD's. They do have 2 volumes on each DVD. What do the DVD's look like? Is there any artwork on them?
I have not seen a 12 disk set. Do you have a link to view it?

They are the Cabin Fever DVDs - but the artwork is a little fuzzy - so it leads me to think that someone copied them. The seller swore they were the real thing. Honestly I don't really care - I just want to watch them, not sell or collect them. If you view the following link, you'll see a 12 disc set (24 volumes) that seems to start out with the Cabin Fever set's first 12 volumes, but then adds another 11 or so different volumes. I would rather not buy another "line" (non-Cabin Fever release) and continue my collection with Cabin Fever releases...However, I'm not sure if the Cabin Fever releases go beyond the 12 volumes. If they don't, I suppose I will have to buy a different set. Here's the link, let me know what you think: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=617&item=6395350971&rd=1

I bought my copies of the Cabin Fever DVDs in the store (half of them from K-Mart and the other half, someone got for me from Tower Records). The slightly blurry appearance of the cover art is normal in this set. These were printed in Canada and they've been known in the past to print blurry covers for The Little Rascals Cabin Fever VHS's (the ones in EP mode). I'm sure your set is legit. BUT, stay away from any DVDs past volume 12! Those are definitely bootlegs as Cabin Fever/Hallmark never released anything beyond this 6-DVD set we have. The same people have also made the same 6-DVD set with a new cheap homemade cover art. Those are bootlegs too. There is no company logo on the covers. If you want volumes 13-21 on DVD badly enough, I'm sure the quality is fine if you buy them. But, still, they're bootleg.

hmmm. but these extra volumes must com from some legit place, right? I find it hard to believe that some amatuer assembled them. How are other people viewing the contents of the non-Cabin Fever sets? Is there a non-bootleg way to get them or is this the only way?

Making a short story long.......they are "audio tape" release. I inquired with the seller. (he did not remember me)
I tried to get the first 6 DVD's from the same seller <<<see audio tapes inc. thread below>>> He tried to tell me how good they are. Yet when I won my last auction from him, he did not have them in stock and sent me Cabin Fever DVD's instead. He also told me that the Audio Tape version was cheap because they are copies of the Cabin fever (leaving out the cabin fever artwork), not quite as good quality, and I would like what he sent much better. If I didn't delete it already, I would have copy pasted the sellers old email to me.
In a nutshell, depends on what your looking for, is what he will tell you. "." Biz is Biz.........
If you MUST have all episodes on DVD, get the real cabin fever tapes and make your own backup copies. <-- My $.02

Folks,
I'm not entirely understanding this. It seems as though I have some legit Cabin Fever releases - vol 1-12. But I have the following questions:
Q1: Is what everyone is telling me is that there were a further 12 or so Cabin Fever releases that were released on video tape but not DVD - and that people are selling DVDs of the tape?
Q2: Is there no legit release of the DVD's beyond my Cabin Fever vol 1-12?
Q3: Is the only way to get the complete set beyond 1-12 to buy a bootleg? If so, which one is the best?
Thanks!!

I believe you are correct on all 3 points.

Yes, there are legit VHS tapes of volumes 13-21 by Cabin Fever, but were never released to DVD. So the only way to get volumes 13-21 on DVD is to either buy the bootleg set or buy the VHS's and convert them to DVD if you have the software or DVD recorder. Otherwise, buy the bootleg set. There's only one bootleg set of 13-21 on DVD that I know of (meaning with the same artwork and/or put out by the same people), so I guess just get whatever you come across on eBay.

Why don't we just trade them here for free? We are entitled to have a copy on DVD if we own the original VHS tapes right? I have 13-21 on DVD.

There is a good buy-sell-trade forum here. ;D I personally don't see the problem of making "backup" copies of VHS to DVD. If played enough times, VHS tapes will one day be ruined. Using DVD backups, will let you keep viewing your favorite Rascals, while retaining a nice collection of VHS in good shape. Also, IMHO "loaning" (or trading) a backup copy to someone, is much better than over paying a bootlegger on Ebay for the same item. (I'm not implying all sellers are bootleggers) OPT

Can you confirm if the Cabin Fever DVD 6 disc set is actually dual layer DVD. I heard the 6 disc set was supposed to be dual layer DVD media. I bought a set, but it does not appear to have the same outside cover art as others I have seen. There is not booklets in the DVD cases. 2 of the cases do not match the other 4 in cases style. Though 3 disc cases were in plastic wrap, the other 3 were not, so I assume the outside plastic was an attempt to re wrap the inside cases. Just hoping to determine if they are bootlegs copies or not. Initially attached a file with images, but that does not appear to be linked. Thanks,

I got mine from Amazon all 12 discs, I really like one episode and hoping to find the same episode in a store this time. Hearts Are Thumps at the end it does like a little fuzzy.

I have had many copies of the 6 Cabin Fever DVDs, some had artwork sharp & in focus, others were soft with a mesh look. I believe the soft ones were manufactured inCanada.
The later DVDs (discs 7-12 & re-issues of 1-6) with the generic covers were questionably released by Audio Tapes Inc. They removed Leonard Maltin so as not to get in trouble with him. The editing was abrupt, the titles and music just popped in, already in progress, and the end titles would cut off abruptly.
These volumes were NOT made from Cabin Fever's VHS Volumes 13 to 21, but rather from the Cabin Fever LASERDISCs box sets volumes 3 & 4. Everyone seems to forget the excellent quality Cabin Fever Laserdiscs released in 4 boxed sets. They look as good as any DVD.
