Could also be from a ripoff series, mislabeled as an "Our Gang" film. KIDDIE MOVIES appears to have been a pretty substantial 8mm series that includes quite a few 'Our Gang' Titles. While I assume the Reels themselves are silent, due to the Film gauge being below Super 8, it occurs to me that some of the Films could have been derived from Talkies, which would open up the possibility of "Saved From The Flames" deriving from the 1932 'Our Gang' comedy, HOOK AND LADDER, starring Kendall "Breezy Brisbane" McComas and Dickie Moore. Anyway, here's a couple of eBay links to KIDDIE MOVIES Titles: Saved From The Flames: www.ebay.com/itm/OUR-GANG-SAVED-FROM-THE-FLAMES-KIDDIE-MOVIES-8mm-HOME-MOVIE-8-mm-LITTLE-RASCALS-/381485791603?hash=item58d2533973:g:MagAAOSwo6lWN3rF5 'Our Gang' Titles, plus a Western: www.ebay.ca/itm/171970755322?item=171970755322&vectorid=229529&rmvSB=trueThe above are all 50' Foot Reels, meaning these are all excerpts, rather than entire shorts. CHEERS! From that list: Laughing gas, The Haunted House, Over The Top,
At the Scorpion Club and The Blacksmith . . Westerns "Big Race.""At the Scorpion Club" has to be a Mickey McGuire short.

At the Scorpion Club and The Blacksmith . . Westerns "Big Race.""At the Scorpion Club" has to be a Mickey McGuire short. I assume that Scorpion Club is a direct Mickey McGuire series reference, then? My guesses for "The Haunted House" and "The Blacksmith" would be excerpts from the 'Our Gang' sound comedies MOAN AND GROAN, INC. (1929) and READIN' AND WRITIN' (1932), respectively. Nothing readily springs to my mind regarding "Laughing Gas" and "Over The Top". CHEERS!

It's interesting to find how many of these shorts were mixed between the Our Gang and their rival series. Makes me wonder if some of these presumed lost films out there are mistitled under another name.

I'm not 100%, but I believe this company only handled the Silents. "Blacksmith" could be "July Days." "The Haunted House" could be "Shivering Spooks" or "Shootin' Injuns." "Laughing Gas" could be "No Noise." But again, any one of these could be rival shorts. Some of these titles might be listed among the 'Non-Original Title Cards' pages on the Our Gang Wikia. ourgang.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Opening_Title_CardsSpeaking of home movie fragments, here's one for "General Spanky." www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvNz7CIlD5I

One could amass a large collection of film just trying to decipher what all these reels are really excerpts from couldn't they? Sure enough! I think it's important to remember that in the pre TV Based Home Video era, Film based equipment was the only way to view non broadcast Titles. While I'm no expert, I believe the 8mm format would have been the most affordable for the average consumer. For many, just being able to project Film excerpts would have been considered a privilege. I do remember perusing magazines, which listed 8mm/16mm Films for rent or purchase, wishing we even had the $$$ and available space to obtain the necessary equipment; however like most people that I knew, it took the Tape based Home Video revolution to have the option of renting/owning Titles, albeit in an inferior visual format. BTW, the above "Double Trouble" bears a copyright year of 1962 in Roman Numerals, despite its 1938 listing on YouTube. I found this silent excerpt from GENERAL SPANKY (1936) surprisingly quite entertaining to view! Assuming this Castle Films Title is derived from 8mm Film gauge, in my opinion, the quality is also surprisingly rather good! CHEERS!

I was so young and that was so long ago I'd forgotten about the pre tape based home video era.
I'd love to own many of these but don't think I'd have the room nor the budget to have them transferred the correct way. I could spend the rest of my life attempting to decipher all of these into what their original form was.

Frankly, at this stage, I think it's much better to simply collect the complete 'Our Gang' sound shorts on DVD, and the extant silent comedies on whatever available media format! Just my opinion. Home video collecting has sure come a long way since the 1970s! CHEERS!

Yeah I've got all the sound shorts on DVD and I'm good with that but it's the rare or hard to find silents that intrigue me. Video collecting has come a long way for sure. You don't need rooms and rooms of boxes to collect media nor a complicated finicky projector to watch them on and hope it doesn't ruin your film or cost an arm and a leg to buy repair parts for it.
