Updated, with Ardith and Mickey taken off the list. Also removed Jo-Jo, who has stated he never actually appeared in Our Gang. We’re unsure about Clyde Demback and Dickie Hall. Both have faded into obscurity. Also added Willie Mae Walton (long overdue).

A name to add to the list - Gene Collins, who appeared in some of the MGM shorts. For years, he's been mistaken for the similar-looking Frank Lester Ward.

It should be worth noting that this isn't necessarily a definitive list. There are younger kids from the MGM era who could still be alive... namely Rollie and Bobby Jones (Tisket and Tasket from "Kiddie Kure") and the guy who played Buckwheat's brother Big Shot (not to be confused with Cordell Hickman). But all have faded into obscurity. Plus, we still haven't been able to figure out Big Shot's real name. Hopefully call sheets or some other documentations from the MGM shorts will surface one day.

Anyone able to find an obit for Laura June Kenny / Laura June Williams? IMDB says she died back in September. Edit: never mind. Please forgive me if this has already been covered, but yesterday on Lord Heath's website (https://www.lordheath.com/Cecelia_Murray.html), I noticed a Cecelia (Sometimes spelled 'Cecilia') Murray, who's listed birth year is 1930, but no death date. Cecelia Murray appears in ANNIVERSARY TROUBLE (1935) and BEGINNER'S LUCK (1935). The only other clue is that she was born in New York.

Added her. There's a Roach Studio biography at the bottom of the Lord Heath page that mentions her birthday as Nov 29, 1929. I'll ask around and see if there's anything to add. A relative of Cecilia's posted here some years back claiming that Cecilia was related to Bud Murray (the dance choreographer who provided a good chunk of the talent for the Our Gang musicals). Besides the two Gang shorts, she did a photo shoot with Buckwheat and Scotty Beckett upon her arrival in Los Angeles, and also participated in a baseball photo shoot with the cast.

CHEERS! Did a search through the prior pages. July seems to have come from Bob Satterfield's update of the list... but his had it listed as July 1920. I assumed 1920 was a typo, and knew that most sources simply listed "1929," so I put the two together. That said, I'm not sure what OG Wiki's source is. For the time being, I'll just list it as 1929, as it's shown on Lord Heath's site. |
