Probably Jackie Cooper, but of course he moved on to bigger and greater things. He was a favorite, both in Our Gang and his movies, especially The Champ.
I would also like to have seen Scotty and Alfalfa hang on longer than they did. I'm thankful for what they did, however.

Edith Fellows. Overlooked performer.

As a kid, I remember being disappointed that Scotty returned to the Gang as Cousin Wilbur instead of his old character. I understand now why they did that, but it would have been fun to see him as a slightly more grown up Scott, hooking up again with his old best pal Spank.

A return by Scotty as Scotty would have been nice. Of course, he had become a formidable player in the feature film industry by then, so perhaps a long-term comeback wouldn't have been feasible. Still, the return of the celebrated Spanky and Scotty duo probably would have been a shot in the arm for the Our Gang franchise at that point in its existence.

With the photo at the end of the Maltin-Bann book, I'm pretty sure we've all seen more than enough of Spanky, thank you...

But surely among all of those cut scenes and the two earlier versions of the short you must have seen an awful lot?

Olga Therkow, though I'm sure very few people have any idea who she is; I barely do. IMDB has her name as "Therkorn." Beautiful girl; she did the tap dance in "Mush & Milk." Sadly, I see she died relatively young.

I vote for Dorothy. I agree it's a shame she didn't have more opportunities to show what she could do. On the relatively rare occasions when she was given something to work with, she definitely came through. Of course, I'll admit to having a big crush on her when I was young.
On the other hand, Marianne Edwards never did much for me. Seemed like all she could do was stick out her lip and pout.

Dorothy Deborba is part of what is my favorite 'Our Gang' gag in LOVE BUSINESS from 1931, and I agree that at times, she did seem a bit underused, possibly in part due to that early '30s 'Our Gang' cast being so exceptional.
Marianne Edwards had the potential to be the Janet Burston of the 1930s, but thankfully, wasn't overused, unlike Janet.

There's only one Dorothy of consequence in Our Gang, so I though my meaning would be clear! And yes, of course, her bit in "Love Business" is a classic. Which Dorothy are you referring to? He's not a Rascal per se, but Emerson Treacy was quite funny; his facial expressions alone were priceless.

IMO Dorothy's reaction scene in "Free Eats" to the so-called talking babies is priceless.
