Here's my list from several different types of music . From Traditional Country-- "I Thought I Heard You Calling My Name" by Porter Wagoner, and a close second would be "Memory Number 1" by Webb Pierce . From Bluegrass-- "You Don't Know My Mind" by Jimmy Martin . From Western-- "Land Beyond the Sun" by Sons of the Pioneers . From Hawaiian-- "Kamalani O Keaukaha" as recorded by Jules Ah See . A Close second would be "E Mama Ea" recorded by the Moana Serenaders and many others . From Mexico would be "La Golondrina", especially as recorded by Placido Domingo and Nana Mouskouri, although I also like the English version by Slim Whitman and even the song as appears in the movie "The Wild Bunch" . From Rock and Roll-- an instrumental "Forty Miles of Bad Road" by Duane Eddy . Having listed these favorites, I must add that the most beautiful recording I believe I've ever heard is "Ave Maria" by Leontyne Price, especially the version posted on YouTube by jacquesurlus (hope I spelled it right !)

Right at this moment this might be my favorite song. Tommy Bond did some voice work on cartoons in between stints on Our Gang, and here he is singing in 1936.

Tommy was okay but his voice wasn't very distinctive on that number. Alfie on the other hand couldn't be mistaken for anyone else, no matter what he sang.

Tommy Bond in "I Love To Singa."
Does anybody know where this piece of information comes from, other than Tommy Bond's book? I ask this for two reasons:
1. It doesn't sound much like him to me. Sort of like that Ub Iwerks cartoon that's supposed to have Scotty's voice, but doesn't sound like him either (I believe it was "Little Boy Blue").
2. There's the question of whether the IMDb and various other sites credit Tommy for this job because he mentioned it in his book - or whether he mentions it in his book (through co-writer Ron Genini) because it's all over the internet. After all, he also credits himself with appearing in "Spanky" even though he wasn't in it - no doubt because Maltin & Bann mistakenly credited him for that.

I have to admit that I had some questions about it myself, but after listening to it over and over again I'm convinced it's him. His voice was changing at the time, so you have to take that into consideration. I can only go by the information that I have, and my ears. He mentions in his book that he sang a lot, so I think it's him. Plus I can detect his voice in that song. I found the cartoon here, and every source I've read credits him with the voice of "Owl Jolson" who sings the song, and he mentions it in his book. I can hear "Butch" in that voice, so I feel sure it's him. I haven't read any comments anywhere claiming that it's not him. You also have to take into account that he was doing a cartoon voice, playing an owl, so he may have been doing some things with his voice that made him sound different than what you're used to hearing from him. www.funnyordie.com/videos/5be75fb58d/i-love-to-singa

Harry Spear Vs Coptic Rain
Okay, I admit it, I made the video but it's a good song and it's got pictures of Harry, what more could anyone possibly want?

As with my favourite movies my favourite songs change from day to day, depending on what sort of mood I'm in. When I like something I frequently play it on repeat for a day or two before moving on to something else. The last song that I did that with was this one. Robin Packalen is not responsible for the accompanying video, which has nothing to do with the song. Robin Packalen singing Huominen Saa Odottaa (Tomorrow Can Wait).

I just came across this one and already I've ripped the song and added it to by computer iTunes so that I can play it on repeat.

It's an old song but I really love this arrangement of it, which I first heard on the soundtrack of 'Johnny' a dramatized documentary about US Civil War legend Johnny Clem. I've been playing it on repeat all evening. If you click the link below you can play the song for free and if you feel like ti you can download it for a small fee too. As well as being one of the most efficient 'ear worm' songs in the known universe Frontside Ollie introduced Robin Packalen to the world outside of his native Finland, where he's the biggest thing to happen since they discovered that words look better if you repeat vowels. If you look at Robin's footwear in the video you'll easily spot the fashion trend which he's credited with starting. I guess that in Finland they aren't aware that 85 years earlier Harry Spear was doing the same thing, although admittedly a little less colourfully.

There Was A Little Boy by Toy Matinee has been one of my favourite songs since the first time I hear it. The music is so intense, yet melodic, and the lyrics are so deep, yet subtle. Unfortunately this YouTube video consists only of a still image of the album sleeve, but who gives a dehydrated rat's poo? It's the music that matters, not the static or flickering images on the video screen.
Today, quite by accident I came across the original demo version of the song, which is obviously the same but also strikingly different, especially the guitar work and background vocals. It's interesting to hear how the song was originally envisioned and then compare it with the final, polished version above.

If the message Video unavailable appears on the video screen just press the YouTube button, to view it there and it should play without any further problems.
