I don't know if this was ever mentioned in any posts about the Cabin Fever VHS tapes, but I found a nice 13-21 boxed set at a local flea market this weekend and almost bought it as a gift for someone until I inspected the tapes. They were made in Canada and ALL were made in the EP (SLP) mode. The seller also had a Canadian copy of Vol. 2 for 25 cents so I bought it just to see if the slower tape speed makes a a lot of difference -- IT DOES! The picture quality was AWFUL, blurry and snowy, even on my 4-head Sony with S-Video output. I did notice a guy on Ebay had all 21 volumes for sale a week or so ago, and I noticed then that the tapes were all made in Canada, thanks to his clear pictures. But it was something he did not mention. That might be something to consider asking an Ebay seller about before you buy. These EP tapes have Made in Canada clearly printed on the back of the box on the bottom left corner and they do NOT say "Duplicated in Standard Play Mode" as the U.S.-made tapes clearly state in the same spot. Just something to watch out for so you won't be disappointed. The SP tapes DO transfer nicely to DVD, though.

I think every 1-12 and 13-21 tape sets are the EP/SLP tapes, If I'm not mistaken. They have have sold them like that because those tapes were lighter and keep from tearing the outer box.

Hate to disagree, but you are mistaken, and I don't think you read my post carefully or understood my point. There is a difference! The set of 13-21 that I have are all in the SP mode and made in the United States, as well as a 1-12 set that I sold when I acquired the DVD's. I also have a VHS of Vol. 3 and 5 that are also in SP and U.S.-made. It is the Canadian tapes you have to watch out for. Quote from theluckycorner.com that I happened to stumble on about the Cabin Fever VHS tapes:
"This company released the most comprehensive collection of Roach Our Gang talkies of them all, and threw in five silent episodes to boot. All of these prints are complete or nearly complete, and are the best available versions of these films, though early copies have an incomplete version of "Washee Ironee" (no. 131). It should be noted that some VHS releases from Canada are in EP mode. The Cabin Fever prints are now in the hands of Hallmark, who have slowly released some of the titles. I've made a separate page for this company. There have also been numerous bootlegs released containing the Cabin Fever material."

The SP-mode VHS sets that you have/used to have... did they come all together as box sets?

Yes on both -- that's why I was so surprised to find a boxed set, or even a single tape, in the EP mode. I thought only the cheap, knock-off videos were made in that mode! I had the CF 1-12 set for years until the first six DVD's came out. I then bought the 13-21 set off Ebay a while back since I wasn't satisfied with the quality of those AVI DVD's. Still have the 13-21 set in the original box. Can send pics if you want!!
