Good afternoon, last weekend I was cleaning out my parents attic and discovered b/w 5-8 reels of old 8mm (I think) Little Rascals footage...I believe 1936 was the year. The condition was fair, but that was from a quick eye of a few reels.
I have never been invovled in old film appraisals, do you all know a contact that could? Or do you have an idea on the value of my find?
R, Jeb

How big are the reels? Are they in boxes? If so, what company made them? What are the titles? You can unwind the film enough to find the titles, unless they have been broken off.

I will get back to my mothers house this weekend, 29MAY...sorry about not getting titles, etc. I'll get back to you probably one week. I heard about a guy that converts old film to DVD...perhaps take them to him.
I also found some July 4 1970 Rolling Stones Magazine concert records....a lot of famous artists. Found two VERY HEAVY boxes (approx 40-60 records in ea.), inc. with scripts for radio DJ's to talk about radio clips etc. Almost sounds like the records are a compilation of 24 hours of concert coverage, with commercial breaks, Public Service Announcements....I don;t even own a record player. Any thoughts on those?

Those records sound like they're transcriptions for a syndicated radio program, like the King Biscuit show. I've got some later shows, but those are on CD. I imagine if those LPs are in good condition they'd fetch a pretty good price.

Any thoughts on those? I may have a buyer for your PSA's & commercial breaks. I can put you in touch with him if you need to sell your records. As for your film. I'd save your money on having them transferred. You WILL get into copyright issues doing that. And I'd bet that anything you found in 8mm would already be on DVD already. If you want to view them on DVD, it would be cheaper to find the titles on ebay. The average 8mm shorts that are complete, would bring $5.00-$10.00. Harder to find titles such as Kid From Borneo may fetch $20.00.

Sorry about the delay in responding but it tool me a while to get back out towards my Mom's place.
As for the Rascals reels. I believe most, if not all, to be KING WORLD PRODUCTIONS (circa 1960). I could just barely read, "King World" on most reels...of course, all on 8mm.
For OPT: Thanks for your estimates on $5 - $20 for each short...Any additional thoughts now that we know the titles below??? Titles follow: 1929 Shivering Shakespeare 1930 Teachers Pet When the Wind Blows Pups is Pups 1931 Readin’ & Writin’ Fly My Kite Love Business 1932 Free Eats Free Wheeling Birthday Blues 1933 Wild Poses Mush and Milk Forgotten Babies 1934 Washee Ironee Hi Neighbor Honkey Donkey 1935 Teachers Beau The Lucky Corner 1937 Roamin’ Holiday Framing Youth 1938 Canned Fishing
Also, found two more reels. Sorry about digressing from the Rascals Theme but I just don't know enuff about this stuff and def sounds like ya'all do. -Dr. Zhivago reel (circa 1960???) with promos from Geraldine Chaplin??? also 8mm. Any thoughts??? -And a reel called, "Wild West". No clues what that's about!?
Finally, and unfortunately I did not get a chance to check on the Rolling Stones Radio Show records. But I do know that they are in mint condition!
Also, got maybe 100 or so good to mint condition little records (45's, I think they are called). Various artists (Rock, Country, Jazz, etc.) circa 1960. Any thoughts???
I'll post again this Friday, June 23. I'll be up that way Thurs and will take a look.

Thanks everyone for the info on the reels. I got some info on the records:
I have two boxes of records(50 total) from Rolling Stones Magazine Productions. A 48 hour 1982 labor day weekend show called, "The History of Rock and Roll" + 4-8 hours of bonus material. It definately has a lot of national commercial spots & public service announcements...Maxwell House, Budweiser, US Army, etc. Apparently, as noted on the transcripts there is a short intro followed by a Bud commercial, show follows immediately approx 2.5 mins in length, inc commercial.
The records are in pristine condition and the transcripts for every record/segment are in good shape, slight yellowing of the paper. The collection of songs, that I have seen from transcripts, are very good actually I am going to get a record player and listen to them.
