I agree with cubear. Blackhawks have good quality to them. I don't "think" that the blackhaws were put on DVD as a collection. I have dealt with a person who has the rights to reprint blackhawk films in 16mm format. I have some of his friend's DVD our gang shorts, and none are of Blackhawk sourse. If anyone is interested in reading the history of Blackhawk, here is some good reading. www.filmclassic.com/Blackhawk.htm

Thanks OPT for posting that link. It sure brought back a ton of memories!! BlackHawk films was such a part of my youth. Waiting for each catologe and update. I still remeber the boxes. It is a shame that Blackhawk couldnt compete in the VHS and DVD Market. When I was a kid I dreamed of working for Blackhawk, to me that was the ultimate dream job...:-)

I've heard of various box sets available of silent rascal films. One box boasts 51 different film titles on 9 dvds. Does anyone know the differences between the quality of these films. Do you have to buy each different set in order to get the best prints of all of the films?

The box sets generally derive their prints from the old Grapevine VHS releases. The quality varies from film to film, so yes, you would need to look all over the place for the best prints of each film. You might want to wait until the Laughsmith set comes out later this year before setting out to find all the best versions.

Would you know if this Laughsmith set will contain a large number of their silent films? Will this set be considered the best quality of silent prints available? Would you know if it might contain rare films such as 'Your Own Backyard', Spanking Age', Smile Wins', Jublio Jr., , 'School Begins', 'Telling Whoppers', 'Bring Home the Turkey'?

Does anyone know if these silent films are still considered lost: 1.'Holy Terror', 2. 'Growing Pains', 3. Edison Marconi and Co.', 4. 'Heebee Jeebees', 5. 'Fair and Muddy'. I read that a copy of 'School Begins' was recently found, I sure would like to see that!

The last update I saw had Your Own Back Yard and The Smile Wins as possible titles. The others were not on the list.

There's a VHS that shows up on eBay sometimes called 'The Will Rogers Collection' that has "Jubilo, Jr." on it. Currently, all five of the films you listed are considered lost.
