Wayne, There's a way that you might be able to find out if that film collector really did have any of the lost or unavailable silent Our Gang Comedies. You could ask him to describe what happens in one of the films and see if anything is accurate that he says. You could try asking him about "Your Own Back Yard" and say you would like to know what happens in it. I'll be able to tell you if it's right because as far as I know, I'm the only one in the world to have seen the film complete. Only a handful of people have seen reel one and probably not that many have seen reel two. If he doesn't remember that one, perhaps you could ask about any of the other unavailable Pathe ones (Apart from "Bring Home The Turkey" as I haven't got that one!) It would be nice if they really do exist. I've known film collectors that say they've got certain films but when I ask about them, they say "Oh, I sold that one a while ago!" or it might turn out to be another film. I wonder if they really ever had it at all. Robin of C-W Films

Good idea Robin. I will be meeting with him in the next couple of weeks when I go to purchase a telecine porjector and more MGM shorts.

I'm glad you like the idea. It might be best to make notes and get as many details as you can. When I said "As far as I know I'm the only person in the world to have seen "Your Own Back Yard" complete", I meant recently! Some very older people that are still around might have seen it in the 1920s (even if they can't remember what happens in it).
Robin.

I have also been looking for a copy of Auto Antics. I would be interested in buying a dubbed copy on on VHS or DVD.
Thanks!

I'd like to buy the non-Hal Roach talkies that I don't have on DVD. If anyone has all of them can I send you a list of what I still need?

I am new to this forum so please excuse me if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about. My husband and I have always loved The Little Rascals/Our Gang shorts. Both of us are nostalgic for Spanky and all the Rascals. My husband gave me the Platinum Collection of The Little Rascals for Christmas last year from ClassicTheater.com. Tonight I read and became aware of a fact in The Little Rascals short films history and time line that Hal Roach's FIRST films of Our Gang/The Little Rascals were 'silent' films. I felt/feel like I walked through a time tunnel. I had NO idea that Hal Roach first filmed the Little Rascals in 'silent' films! I saw some films are one or two reels.
Q: Are the one or two reel films the silent films of The Little Rascals/Our Gang? I realize there is music and sound effects without dialog.
Q: My husband and I do not own an 8mm/16mm reel to reel tape/film player. (We have a white photography screen that I inherited from my late father. )
I am confused and I am sorry. I am interested in buying silent films of the Little Rascals/Our Gang but I am not sure how much I will have to afford. I guess I am in search of the original films as I can get. I'm not rich so probably out of luck but I'm trying to find out where I should look for their silents as close to their original films as I can afford.
I appreciate any insight or feedback any of you can give me. Thank you so much for your help.
Jeannie

As a film collector/seller, you are much better off either purchasing the various DVD sets with the silents or recording them in early January when Turner shows them.
A good projector will run anywhere from $25 - $250 or more. It depends what model you get and if you must have it shipped.
I have sold some hard to find and very hard to find O.G. films for several hundreds of dollars each. Unless you wish to pick up film as a complete and dedicated hobby, save your money. You can get a DVR, DVD set(s) for less than a few of the hard to find titles.
