Hey everyone! The forum has been unfortunately dry lately. So let's talk about the ClassicFlix restoration bluray series! Email notifications have been going out since yesterday that their pre-orders are being mailed out. Has anyone received their copy of Volume 1 yet? If and when you do, discuss it here! My copy is still in en route, and I'm excited. I wonder if the bogus Good Old Days/That Old Gang of Mine opening score has been removed from the shorts that aren't supposed to have any score, like Lazy Days and Boxing Gloves.

Mine is on the way too. Been keeping tabs on ClassicFlix's samples that they've uploaded to YouTube. Fantastic work!
I also ordered CF's restored "Curley"/"Who Killed Doc Robbin" DVD, which should arrive next month. I'm told the quality on the latter release looks great. I imagine CF will release a trailer for that soon.

I watched it all the other day. The work done on these is impressive! I was nervous because I tend to be very nit picky. In fact, I did notice in Bear Shooters that the Jackie’s first line with Chubby as he was bringing the box of food is missing. A short like this one has been so choppy on most prints and it would take a combination of multiple prints to make it fully complete. I’m surprised they dropped the ball on that one. But I think this is the only thing I’ve noticed so far, and it’s really pretty minor. Another thing I noticed is that one or two shorts, I feel like there really should have been the MGM lion in the beginning, but was not included in the bluray. Again, couldn’t they combine footage to make them complete? Or maybe the way they are here is really exactly how the originals are since they’re from nitrate negatives. Maybe what’s seen on the old Cabin Fever set were not accurate.
The picture and even the sound is clearer than ever before. I don’t think they can get any better. Even the opening theme has been fixed on some of these, like Lazy Days and A Tough Winter.
I can’t wait to get all the other volumes.

While I'm unable to go all in for financial reasons, it is a pity BEAR SHOOTERS (1930) seems to have got a bit of the short end, yet again. It's always SOMETHING (IE. A missing line on one print transfer, excessive cropping on another!) with that title, it seems! That said, what I've seen in the restoration comparisons look really amazing! CHEERS! :)

Hello all, I hope this is allowed. If not, you can delete the message. Even though Volume 2 will be mailed out next week, I wrote a review of The Little Rascals-The ClassicFlix Restorations Volume 1 that was posted online the other day. I was very impressed by the picture quality of the ClassicFlix team's work. These Our Gang/Rascals films have never looked better, inn my opinion. Especially considering they date back to 1929 and 1930. I have to admit that when I bought the RHI/Genius Products Little Rascals Complete Collection DVD box set in 2008, I didn't watch the early films. I had only known the Boxing Gloves film, as it was part of King World's syndication package. So, watching these 11 films on Volume 1 was almost like watching new Rascals films to me. I'm glad to have found this board online. I’ve received Volume 2 yesterday and I’ve been able to skim through the restorations. What a surprise to hear the complete Pups Is Pups theme. I never knew the music existed that plays over the MGM lion. The opening theme does sound different in Teacher’s Pet and Love Business, though. Did anyone else notice this? Other than that, the restorations are wonderful and the sound quality on everything so far will mean I have no reason to keep the old Cabin Fever transfers nor the Blackhawk Films versions. Everything we really need is pretty much in the ClassicFlix Blu-ray’s.

I'm like you in that, in addition to watching The Rascals on TV, I've purchased Super 8 and rented Super 8 Sound Rascals films, bought the Republic and Cabin Fever VHS tapes, and then the Cabin Fever, Hallmark, RHI/Genius (The Complete Collection) and Warner Archive (the MGM Our Gang collection) DVD's. So far, the ClassicFlix team is doing a great job with these Blu-rays.
