In the past particularly many newspapers carried cartoon strips and also single cartoon panels. In 1922 a newspaper cartoon called Out Our Way was born. Initially it was a single panel cartoon published each day of the week. Eventually although the single panel format continued to be published on weekdays a comic strip version was produced on Sundays. The single panels often featured recurring characters such as Worry Wart and the strips followed the same example, frequently featuring a family called The Willets, who had a late teens flapper daughter and a boy aged around twelve, who were continually at odds with each other. I really like the cartoons as they're real window into a vanished way of life and also a glimpse of what life was like in small town and rural America, back in the days when brand new Our Gang shorts were being shown on the local cinema. This thread is not just for Out Our Way cartoons but for any cartoon panels or strips that you feel like posting. Anyway here's a single panel from back when the series first started in 1922 And here's a Sunday cartoon strip from 1929 when that format started
