I feel as though I deserve a medal for valor (or stupidity) for sitting through Calling All Kids especially when Tommy Tucker wasn't even in it. He obviously had more sense than me. However I've just watched the hysterically unfunny Little Miss Pinkerton and it's led me to suggest an edit to the cast listing on IMDb. Currently the paper boy, who gives Janet a lift on his bike (and somehow resisted the temptation to push her off when they were traveling at speed) is listed as Robert Ferrero. I have no idea what Robert Ferrero looked like but I do know who the paper boy looked like. He's got his hair brushed back, because he's wearing a beanie hat but the nose is unmistakable, so are the eyes and mouth. So I feel that fate has rewarded me for sitting through one of the worse Our Gang shorts ever made, because I'm pretty certain that I've spotted Tommy Tucker in a previously unlisted appearance.

Don't know which of you is right. Personally, I'd get rid of both names until there's some sort of proper confirmation.

Tommy Tucker definitely appeared in Election Daze, Surprised Parties and Going To Press. I'm suggesting that he also appeared in Little Miss Pinkerton.
Robert Ferrero has (supposedly) one Our Gang credit, in Little Miss Pinkerton, and a 'maybe' appearance in Election Daze.
I'd suggest the simple probability is that Robert Ferrero didn't appear in any Our Gang shorts and his supposed appearance in Little Miss Pinkerton was actually an appearance by Tommy Tucker. In all probability his 'maybe'; appearance in Election Daze was in fact also Tommy Tucker.
Our Gang frequently used the same kids as Gang members and extras, so it seems logical that if the boy in Little Miss Pinkerton looked like Tommy Tucker, who'd been in the previous Our Gang short Election Daze, then it's probably because that's exactly who he was. Why would they cast another kid (Robert Ferrero) who supposedly looked exactly like Tommy Tucker, when they could just cast Tommy Tucker as they had done in the previous short?
I have no idea who Bob Demoss is but in my opinion any confusion between the actors appearances in Our Gang is imaginary. The only person getting them confused is himself, as all those Our Gang appearances were made by just one actor, Tommy Tucker. I have no idea why Robert Ferrero was given a credit, when it's obviously Tommy who was playing the role of the paper boy. I don't even know what Robert looks like, in fact does anyone? Has anyone actually seen a picture of Robert Ferrero? I can't find one. Any a captures of the paper boy don't count as I'm certain he's Tommy Tucker, and that it is apparent when comparing those captures with the other captures of Tommy.
According to IMDb Robert Ferrero was born in 1930, that makes him three years older than Tommy Tucker so in 1943 one of them was ten and the other was thirteen. Does the paper boy look three years older than Tommy Tucker did in Election Daze or does he look the same age?

Robert Ferrero has a credit on IMDb for playing a Newsboy in Nob Hill (1945). The movie is available to watch on YouTube. I've just skimmed through it and the only likely contender who I can find is this lad, who looks absolutely nothing like Tommy Tucker.,

Bob Demoss ran theluckycorner.com, and is arguably one of the defacto Our Gang historians. He knows his stuff, trust me. The 'confusion' stems from the Maltin/Bann book. They'd often list Ferrero in Tucker's place, and that includes in Election Daze. However, the book doesn't list anyone for playing the newsboy in "Little Miss Pinkerton." Bob identified him as Ferrero, and as I've said, has mentioned in the past that Maltin and Bann confuse him with Tommy. That's not to say you're wrong. You may very well be right.

I'm simply going by the evidence of my own eyes. I've seen what appears to me to be the same boy in four different Our Gang shorts over the last few days. Screen captures and his voice seem to confirm that they are all the same boy. The same boy also appeared in The Falcon's Brother (1942) and California (1947) again he looked and sounded like the same boy. According to IMDb the boy who appeared in California, The Falcon's Brother and in two of the Our Gang shorts was Tommy Tucker, born 1933. The logical assumption is that he's the same boy he also appeared in the other two Our Gang shorts, even if he wasn't listed on IMDb in the cast for either. The listings on IMDb are not always infallible or complete. It makes no sense whatsoever for me to add unnecessary complications into the mix and accept that in one of those Our Gang appearances that the boy is supposedly somebody else. A someone called Robert Ferrero who is actually three years older than Tommy Tucker and who I've never seen a picture of. My eyes tell me that they're the same boy, they're all the same age and he wore caps/hats in two of the shorts too. I'd really like to see an undisputed photo of Robert Ferrero, especially one in which he also looks very similar. I've looked at Robert Ferrero's movie listings on IMDB and in most of them he's uncredited and plays either 'child' or 'boy.' Unfortunately those listings are in movies in which there are several other child actors, also with the same credits. So it would be pretty difficult to identify which one of them was supposed to be Robert. For example, there are a number of 'Newsboys' in one scene in the movie Nob Hill (1945) but there are also a number of uncredited child actors listed as playing 'Newsboy' in that movie on IMDb. Which one of them is Robert Ferrero is anyone's guess, as most of them have their backs to the camera. The only one who is seen full face is the right age but looks nothing like Tommy Tucker.

I was just looking at the screen captures that I made from Little Miss Pinkerton and pondering the possibility that both Tommy Tucker and Robert Ferrero might both be in the short. Allegedly the two young actors looked similar enough for confusion to arise over their credits and identities. I'm absolutely 100% convinced that the paper boy is Tommy Tucker, but if I'm right where was his look-a-like Robert Ferrero, who is supposed to be in the short too? I think that I might have found him. There is definitely a superficial resemblance between the boy who I've indicated and Tommy Tucker. I might be totally wrong but my conjecture is at least a reasonable possibility.

Okay, this kid might not be Our Gang related. Then again perhaps he is, because I don't know who he is. This is a publicity still from The Road To Yesterday (1925). The man is William Boyd, before he became famous as Hopalong Cassidy. The boy on the floor I immediately recognised as Junior Coghlan and indeed he is listed in the movie credits as 'boy scout.' There are no other boys listed in the movie credits though. So my question is who is the kid who's apparently just decked Junior?
