Random update - I've sort of taken a break from the forum, partially because I'm working on a new Rascal website at the moment - not another message board, mind you, but something more along the lines of what this site originally was. It's quite time consuming, though. More of a thing I can only work on during the weekends. As a new member I had no idea that this site was once something other than a forum? I'm intrigued.

That's fascinating. Why did it change? It seemed more like the current Our Gang Wikia but with a better colour scheme. It's a pity that the forum wasn't added to that existing site, rather than replacing it. I was a bit disappointed that Tommy Bupp wasn't listed in the cast though.

Mark Brumfield was in charge of all of this. I think it was a having time to update it, and also perhaps a financial issue. This is why I'll be using wix.com to build my website. Free and easy to you. Here's a small preview.

I can remember making websites ages ago, using Homestead.com among others, which are all probably part of the fossil record by now. Maybe I'll have another go at some future point. Bupp World has a certain ring to it.

Well, I've had a go at injecting a bit of activity into this forum. I've made 101 posts in the nine days since I joined but increasingly it has become really hard work. There's not enough new posts for me to respond to, although I'm willing to do so. I've tried trawling through the older threads trying to find things that I can post replies to and I've created a few new threads too even though I'm not good at initiating things, I've tried. During my nine days as a member I've noticed around 10 or 12 other members names crop up, as having recently visited the forum, but only four or five of them have actually made any new posts. I'm not big on talking to myself and even if I was I'm running out of things to say. I'm more than willing to respond to any new post that I can but there needs to be some new posts for me to respond to. Seriously I'm new here and some of you have been here for years but right now this forum is dying, just like so many other on the 'net these days, and unless existing members make some effort to keep it active it's doomed. There's very little point in logging in daily if you're not prepared to actually make a post or two for other members to read and respond to.

I'm glad to see that other members are making an effort to breathe some life back into this forum. That's sarcasm by the way. Six members have logged in over the last 24 hours but only one has posted anything. Where should I send the wreath?

Due to my schedule I often have just a couple minutes a day to look at the forum, and if I don't come up with something useful to post in that time that's it. I imagine others are in a similar situation.

Ultimately, no posts = declining number of visitors = no new members = dead forum. Take a look around the 'net, forums are in decline everywhere, even ones that once had thousands of active members are struggling. Perhaps forums are the vaudeville of the 21st Century and are simply doomed for extinction. Existing members can either remain largely inactive and accept that inevitability or they can at least put up a bit of a fight and try to make some posts, occasionally. Nobody is asking for everyone to make 100 new posts a week but when people are logging into the forum several times a day and have been doing so for the pretty much the whole three weeks or so that I've been a member, but they haven't made a solitary post on any of those visits, then I ask why are they even bothering to login in at all? Whose new posts are they expecting to read if they aren't making any themselves? Like I said earlier in this thread if existing members can't or won't make posts then why should anyone new ever bother to join a virtually inactive forum? I also have a life, I have plenty of other things to do too but I also like Our Gang and I'm prepared to make a bit of an effort in order to try and help keep this forum alive. It's not easy when there is hardly anyone else active here for me to interact with or any new posts for me to respond to. I've even resorted to digging up ten year old threads in order to have something/anything to respond to. I'll keep plugging away for the time being. If anyone else posts anything I'll try to respond to them too. To paraphrase Kevin Costner, "If you post it they will come," to read what you posted, and maybe some of them will then join and post too.

I don't get why anybody would prefer to discuss interests on "social media" than a forum that is anonymous and completely devoted to the interest and are usually more readable than social media threads.

Reasons to login to the forum without posting include being able to enlarge the pictures and to use private messaging, and others may think of more. Also, the board is set up to keep you logged in if you leave and come back, so it's extra effort to logout and then login later.

Yes, I figured that you need to be logged in in order to enlarge pictures, that's one of the reasons why I joined. I didn't know that the board was set up to keep people logged in as each time I visit I login and then log out at the end of the session. At the end of the day it's entirely up to people whether they post or don't post but as you started this thread for suggestions to rejuvenate this board my suggestion was simply that as there are already existing members, around a dozen of whom who login/visit regularly, it might help if they occasionally posted something during some of those visits in order to generate fresh content, attract visitors and maybe even some new members.

I agree that online forums were once popular sites to discuss certain interests. With social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc., it seems as if online message boards are slowly vanishing. I don't know how long it will be before these boards disappear off the Web.
I do enjoy the Rascals, but I seem to fall more in favor for the MGM shorts instead of the Roach shorts that everybody has seen on television for some years. I did discover some MGM shorts on the Internet by WB, but requires payment to watch. I paid a small price to access one short, and boy I enjoyed it. Sometime down the road when I have some extra money, I may consider buying access to all of the seasons from 1938 to the end.
I like the 1994 movie as well. The 1982 cartoon series, it wasn't as solid, but still enjoyable nevertheless. As for the 2014 DVD movie, I hate it - not worth my money.
