Hello,
I'm interested in purchasing a Little Rascals DVD set for my kids (ok, and myself too). Amazon sells two Hallmark DVD sets which are listed as volume 1 & 2 and also volume 3 & 4? Are these sets better (i.e., number of shorts and their quality) than the Cabin Fever 6 DVD? Lastly, any suggestions as to the best place to purchase the Cabin Fever set would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ezio

Those two Hallmark DVDs do not contain half of what's on the six DVD set. The six DVD set by Cabin Fever are the first twelve volumes (the first half of the VHS set that was distributed in 1994).
The difference between Hallmark Vol 1&2 and Cabin Fever Vol. 1&2 is the cover art and the menu. The picture and sound quality are no different that I can tell.
The problem with Hallmark Vol. 3&4 is that not all the shorts from the VHS volumes 3 and 4 are included. Love Business and Pay As You Exit are not there as they should have been. Instead, some of the shorts on that DVD are from the 75th Anniversary video by Cabin Fever in 1997 (including the 1927 silent film, Dog Heaven). Also, the Leonard Maltin intros are missing in this DVD.
Just get Cabin Fever's 6 DVD set off eBay. Make sure the cover art resembles the original Cabin Fever VHS boxart and the copies should be legitimate. If you want Dog Heaven on DVD, then you might also want to pick up the Hallmark Vol 3&4.

Personally i would go with the Hallmark volumes. To me they are better quality and one of the discs does come with Dog Heaven a silent short which is in really great condition! I had purchased the cabin fever dvd prints off of amazon and neither of the discs worked in my portable dvd player. However i had no problem at all with the hallmark dvd's. Plus the covers for cabin fever are really really blurry and it makes you wonder ya know? As far as the cabin fever goes i had the vhs copies and transferred them over to dvd and they turned out much much better! You can get the vhs copies of those really really really cheap off of amazon! Hope this helps! Take care

Sounds like you got a questionable set, Froggy. I got my copies individually in stores (K-Mart and Tower Records) and they play in all my players (including my portable one). The covers are not blurry at all and the quality of the films are outstanding.

I've read all the "Which DVDs to buy" threads on the board and have decided to purchase the Cabin Fever set. Any place other than Ebay to pick these up? I only found one person selling the set on Ebay. They're asking nearly $50. Seems a bit much to me. Or, is it in line with what others have paid? Thanks!

There was a set just listed for $39.99 with "Buy it now." They have 30 copies.
