I'll probably watch it, if it ever gets shown on TV here, but based on the few video clips that I've seen on YouTube etc I certainly have no intention of spending any of my money to view it.

I think I'll wait and see if the public library orders it.

Yeah. Pretty much decided against picking this up at least until it gets down to the bargain racks.
Thing is, I don't really have anything against these people. Their movie's not that good, but they do seem to at least be trying to be respectful to the originals. Like I said, it's like the TOM AND JERRY direct-to-DVD things, people who apparently love the originals but just don't have the talent to emulate them doing the best they can.

Well, most likely your expectations were a little too high. Obviously, it's not going to be as good as the original Rascals films. And you were probably more than a little annoyed at their presumption at trying to 'replace' the old Gang. But really, it's aimed more for younger kids. That doesn't mean it couldn't have been better but at least their hearts were in more or less the right place.

Oh, and discovered Jet Jurgensmeyer has a Twitter account. Just a hunch, though, I'm pretty sure he has somebody else who comes up with the Tweets...

I feel like it is very disappointing that they managed to take my two favorites from the 1994 film (Spanky and Porky) and turn them into my least favorites. I despised Waldo, before, but he's one of the only redeemable things about this movie, in my eyes. Jenna Ortega delivers an effective Mary Ann, I feel, but everyone else is really just way off. Alfalfa is so soft, it's unbelievable; both him and Darla are gigantic pushovers. Their acting just really doesn't cut it, for me, and it shows in Spanky, especially. Jet Jurgensmeyer might be cute, but his face isn't really memorable -- none of theirs are, really -- and he just doesn't truly fit the role of Spanky. A lot of the kids they chose just seemed like a last resort, in my opinion. Though I love the '37-'39 incarnation of the gang, it'd be lovely to see a full movie with the characters of earlier eras.

Hi wheezer! First, I'd like to extend you a belated Welcome to The Little Rascals Forum! I agree that a movie with the earlier era 'Our Gang' kids would be lovely to see! How about Joe Cobb, Mickey Daniels, Jackie Condon (Who's generally often overlooked!), Mary Kornman, Ernie Morrison, and Jean Darling, to name just a few Rascals from the silent era? As for my opinion of the 2014 incarnation (Though I haven't actually seen more than the Trailer!), I won't comment as I already have elsewhere, though I'm sure the kids did the best they could! Though I've never seen the 1994 Film either, I might try to at some point as it does strike me as having been a decent attempt to recreate the feel of the original series. CHEERS! Tony

I read the spoiler, and discovered a reference to the Rascals' treehouse being their headquarters. That may be the only element from the 1980s animated series that was carried over to the 2014 film.
But yeah, based on the reviews, missing it was a good thing.

Jet Jurgensmeyer almost looks like he could portray Scotty Beckett, rather than Spanky. He's rather adorable, either way, and despite his bad acting, he's a good fit for this movie. Their acting might just feel underwhelming because they have a lot of expectations to live up to, and naturally, all of the actors in this movie won't live up to them, by any means.

Jet Jurgensmeyer has been cast as Stinky Peterson in the upcoming "Hey Arnold!" reboot movie. I'm super excited for this revival, having been a big fan of HA! most of my life. It's one of those shows that I watched as a kid, and find it more enjoyable now that I'm an adult. It will be interesting to hear Jet's take on Stinky.
I love how we can never escape the name "Stinky" on this thread...
