Is there any collection of the 1922-1929 silent films of the rascals ? There doesn't seem like there's too much out there prior to 1929.

I have the ones from the Homestead.com link, they are pretty good. They can be found on Ebay for about the same price +listing fees.
I have 2 of the 3 from the A-1 link coming, they should be here this week. I will be sure to update after viewing.

I have viewed the silents from A-1. They they seem to be home made quality. There is some good footage that is hard to get, so I don't mind. Some of the episodes are re-released versions with very little captions. www.a-1video.com/silent.htm <<<scroll down the list to find the Rascals>>> And on Vol. 2 one of the shorts title Sparky At School, is a Buster Brown with Pete the dog in it. And An Average Day, is a compilation of at least 3 shorts. It starts out with Playin Hooky, then goes to Love My Dog, then I'm not sure what the last part is yet. With the price factored in, I would give them a C+ rating. <<<maaaaybe stretch to a B->>> The best thing they have going for them, is the hard to get factor. OPT

I think the last part of An Average Day is The Love Bug. Robin Cook said something about that.

The Love Bug is on the same DVD, and the bull fight with the goat is not in it. Unless, of course, The Love Bug is not a complete version. Maybe Robin will read this and reply..... OPT

The "Average Day" film has parts of "Playin' Hookey", "Love My Dog" , "Ten Years Old" (With the goat), and "Telling Whoppers" in it.
Robin Cook of C-W films. A.K.A. OGODCATS on eBay. 'OGODCATS' was actually a mistake, but I kept the name as it was so unusual. (It was going to be my password!) I would have had something like "Vision On" named after one of my favourite T.V. programmes of the 1970's which was also shown in the U.S. and Canada.

It was released in November 1923, so it may have been filmed in the time period you are referring to. I don't know how long it took to release these shorts after filming. "Derby Day" also had a lot of extra kids. The listed kid cast in the Maltin book are Mary Kornman, Mickey Daniels, Ernie Morrison, Farina Hoskins, Joe Cobb, Jack Davis, Jackie Condon, Sing Joy, and Billy Lord. The director was Robert McGowan. This film is available on several DVDs.

Big Business is another possibility. There were several extra kids in that one. It was released in Feb. 1924, so it might fit the timeframe for filming. It is available from Ebay at the folowing link: Big BusinessThere is a bid on it now. It would be best to wait for it to be re-listed to get it for $9.95. I think it is available at the link OPT listed, as well.

Whoops. Sorry, my memory was off. I knew The Average Day had *some* episode in it that I don't have yet.
