Glad you like the versions I've posted. I have a some great friends and fellow fans that have been very generous in sharing their films with me. It is time consuming to edit these films together, but like you, I was disappointed with what was available and wanted to try and make things better. I hope Laughsmith is able to release their DVD set of the silents soon. Until then, I will keep scrounging for more rare footage so we'll all have more Our Gang silents to watch. The soundtracks are a pain to put together, but I think they help the films out greatly.
I will be editing more Our Gang silents in the near future. I have enough footage to work on at least 10 more of the silents currently. If you or anyone else has any footage that they're willing to share, feel free to contact me. Also, I'm only working on the Pathe's currently, and the only one I have NO footage from is "Bring Home the Turkey".

But anyway, I just want to say (again), that what is taking so darn long to release remastered/restored albums after Rubber Soul? ? This is ridiculous!!! Virtually all other important albums from decades past have remastered CDs by now, but the Beatles? No. They may have released the ones from the first half of their career as a band, but the best ones have yet to be released with beautiful sound quality. Ugh, play Come Together on "1" and then on the 1987 CD "Abbey Road" immediately after. Pathetic, huh? Just imagine every song on Revolver, AR, TWA, etc. sounding as good as the ones on "1." You will find some purists that hate the way "1" sounds. I guess there's a lot of noise reduction used on it. Personally, I really enjoyed the "Yellow Submarine Songtrack" cd, although they screwed up "Eleanor Rigby" while trying to sync up the master tapes. Paul's vocal is lagging ever so slightly. Overall, the sound quality is eons better than the same songs on the original cd releases, or the vinyl for that matter.

Not that you asked me, but I prefer the mono mix. Other than the odd beginning to Sgt Peppers (Reprise), I think it sounds better overall. "When I'm 64" and "She's Leaving Home" both play at the proper speed, unlike the stereo version. You can actually hear Macca's yammering away during the end of "Reprise", and the vocals on "LSD" sound much cooler.

Here's the silent Our Gang comedy "Seein' Things" from 1924. This version is compiled from 2 sources. Many of the intertitles that were missing from the common "Mischief Makers" print are restored here. A new soundtrack, as well as new opening credits, have been added. Thanks to James, Bob and Randy for their assistance. Enjoy! Part 1: www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1QMRTPfhrQPart 2: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOEKFG_7pd0

Keep in mind that a lot of what John Waters says is tongue in cheek. He always goes for shock value. "MGM Our Gang" films and "Pink Flamingos". Now that's a combo!

Either Mickey Daniels or Farina are my favorites. Both had huge talent and could carry a film.

The Monkees as a music making entity had some of the best songwriters and musicians at the time working on their songs, which provided them with a lot of great music. Not to mention, Michael Nesmith was one of the pioneers of country rock music and a solid songwriter himself with a number one hit under his belt ("Different Drum" by Linda Ronstadt). Peter Tork was an accomplished musician and his instrumental work was featured on several of their songs. People like Carole King, Neil Diamond, Neil Young, Paul Williams, The Wrecking Crew wrote and performed on the Monkees albums and the list goes on and on. The Monkees were never meant to be a REAL rock band. They were a tv show about a fictional rock band, with soundtrack albums of the songs featured on the show. They kind of morphed into a real band at one point and did an admirable job pounding out their hits (just the four guys) in garage band fashion in front of screaming crowds. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, but to just scoff at the Monkees or to dismiss their music as uninteresting or lame (i.e. MGM Our Gang shorts) would be a musical oversight.

Ah what the heck, here's another Our Gang silent comedy, "Stage Fright" for you to enjoy. This version is compiled from two different versions. It's not complete, but still it's more complete than what most of you have probably seen before. A new soundtrack has been added as well. Here's the Our Gang comedy "Commencement Day". I used 4 different sources to compile this version. About half the original intertitles, as well as several scenes missing from the common "Mischief Makers" print are here. Special thanks to James, Randy and Bob for their help. Enjoy! It's amazing how many films have turned up in the past few months. "The Cobbler", "Ten Years Old", "Sunday Calm" and now "Telling Whoppers". All we need is "Bring Home the Turkey" and "Your Own Backyard" and that'll be at least SOME footage from all of the Pathes.

Hey all, Here's my latest Our Gang silent film edit. This time it's "No Noise". Three versions of the film were used to compile this version. Almost 2 minutes of footage here is not found in the common version of the film circulating among collectors. A new soundtrack and new opening titles have been added. Enjoy! Where have you seen this missing footage? Can you be more specific as to when it occurs? Thanks!
