He's so much of a fan, he even left in true Harry Spears style: mysteriously! :-)

I wonder- if the 8 DVD set is still being manufactured, then why couldn't they just start using the "correct" DVDs? Even if they did it quietly without announcing that the DVDs have been modified, it'd be better than continuing with the Blackhawk versions. Instead, they just removed the top part of the front cover that originally said "Remastered, Restored, Uncut".

Amazon.de does ship overseas. I used that to get the 1927-1929 set... with the help of language translator to navigate through the process. :-)

Thanks for the heads up, guys! My DVD came in the mail today. I took a quick look. It looks pretty good, considering I'm used to the slightly blurry and soft laserdisc picture.
Now a proud owner of all the uncut talking films on DVD, as well as the German 1927-1929 MGM silent set!

The Pinch Singer (1936) - Not much to add. Pete has several good facial expressions, and today's audience is more likely to associate the rejection signal with "The Gong Show." It is good to see Harold addressed by name. One other good gag is Alfalfa removing the gong from the recording studio to ensure he can sing longer. I do get bored listening to the other auditions, where all of the others are older than the gang members and probably wouldn't be in a competition with them. In "Mike Fright" and "Beginner's Luck" other competitors were the gang's age. There are some questions. Why did Porky mess up Buckwheat's whistling routine by hitting the phonograph with a hammer? Also, what is the point of blackface in a radio audition? It looked awful with the way hands and arms didn't match the faces. The Dixie Trio could have been another act the performed before the saxophone players. Then there is the matter of the gang making more than 1275 phone calls in less than a minute. If a call from a public phone cost five cents then, the fifty dollar prize wouldn't cover the cost of the phone calls. Actually, if the gang had that much money for phone calls, they could have used it to buy their football uniforms directly instead. Guess it's better not to think of these things. Ha. I think this would make an amusing thread if there was one. ;-)

There's a volume one with ten shorts on iTunes as well. But the shorts are not in chronological order.

Keep Jackie Condon in the series for just a few more shorts so he could last long enough to make it through the transition to talkies. If only this could have happened, we'd know what he sounded like.

Thanks for putting this up shortly before the time when "One Wild Ride" was due to be reviewed. This definitely had more material in the first part than anything I have. You're quite welcome! I never really thought of that... I should check in the future what silents are due for review, and I could possibly upload them (if the edits have been completed). I enjoy reading everyone's reviews.

Thanks for posting those videos. Has anyone here ever been able to find the Rare Original Silent Episodes that Cabin Fever had available from a TV offer only? I still have that commercial on tape from 1997.

They're the original wording, but the cards themselves are not original. I have a handful of the original cards (at least I think they are), but I didn't include them in this edit.

Hello everyone,
It's been a long time since I've put anything out there as far as looking for more Our Gang silent footage. I thought I would post here to see what kind of response I'll get. As I continue to work on my own "definitive" collection for personal use, I wanted to check and see if anyone has any of the following available listed below. If so, feel free to contact me in case I have any edits one might be interested in that I'm able to share.
-a decent looking transfer of Ask Grandma -Stage Fright, the print including the original opening titles -Tire Trouble, the print including the original opening titles -any footage at all from Bring Home the Turkey -any alternate print of A Quiet Street
Those are what I'm looking for most of all, but I could consider other titles as well.

Because it's another one of my favorite Our Gang silents, I've uploaded "One Wild Ride." To the best of my knowledge, this seems to be mostly complete, except I think it's still missing just a bit of footage from the very beginning. I won't take credit for the opening title seen here. I found it somewhere online and, though not original, I liked it so I included it in my edit. No idea who created it. The Beau Hunks soundtrack is here. Not a particularly rare film, but it's enjoyable to watch, in my opinion. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aHj2TVEio0&feature=youtu.be
