I thought I'd give everyone an update on my next release. It's still going to happen, but I don't know exactly when. My brother and I are still working on "Giants Vs. Yanks" that will accompany "Your Own Back Yard" and "The Love Bug". I did think of releasing "Your Own Back Yard" and "The Love Bug" with another film instead of "Giants Vs. Yanks", but I realised restoring another film might take nearly as long. Laughsmith Entertainment have still got some of our restored videotape material that I could've used. Despite promises of having it all returned, it never has been. Most of my films were returned in 2006, but some were kept by them; If I had them, I could've followed the "Your Own Back Yard" release fairly quickly with another release that had "Giants Vs. Yanks"-- and two other films on it.
I managed to see about ten of the silent Our Gang films that were on the U.S. TCM channel last year; they were kindly sent to me by another member on this forum; I noticed some of them were MY unrestored prints that I'd sent to Laughsmith. (they sent those all back, I'm pleased to say). The transferred copies were then used by Mackinac Media for the TCM Our Gang marathon after Laughsmith lost the battle to keep them.

Our next release isn't quite ready yet, but I thought I'd give you another update. The rest of our films and other materials were returned to us recently from Paul Gierucki of Laughsmith Entertainment -- with an apology for taking so long -- They had had the materials since March 2006! This now means we can plan ahead with our releases. All of our releases will be much better picture quality than any of the silent Our Gang comedies released on DVD before. It won't be many years inbetween releases, but just a few months. One of our releases will include: "The Champeen!" with excellent picture quality; this is one film that looks very rough in other releases.

The DVD also includes a two-minute clip of Hal Roach talking a little bit about YOUR OWN BACK YARD. The films have been digitally restored, and have musical scores by Ben Model. The Price is $12.50 + $7.50 airmail to the U.S.A. including postage and packing. For the United Kingdom, the price is £8.00 + £3.00 postage and packing. Been trying to spread the word about this around. Going to go ahead and bump this so it doesn't get buried. Looking forward to this release! The Hal Roach interview is quoted in Julia Lee's "Our Gang" book. I won't give it away for those who aren't aware of it, but as mentioned in the liner notes on the DVD, Hal mentions a scene that apparently didn't make it into "Your Own Back Yard."

I've just bought a copy of Julia Lee's "Our Gang" book. The interview sounds exactly the same as what is on the DVD. I don't know whether it's the very same interview Julia is referring to, but it's the same.

I received my copy of "Your Own Back Yard" and "The Love Bug" today. The films are in excellent shape and far more complete than any version I've seen before, and it took only eight days to ship overseas. I look forward to doing future business with C-W Films.
