The kid with the hat and cane kind of looks like Weckbaugh, if you compare it to the "Came The Brawn" photo. Perhaps 'Lucky' Brown is simply procuring Weckbaugh's identity - nickname and all.
IIRC, Ralph Hodges is one of the multitude of kids in "Ye Olde Minstrels," which makes his comments fairly accurate, since he says you could barely pick him out in the crowd. I have no idea why the 'Stinky' nickname keeps showing up for all these guys - the name was never used in the Our Gang films. I suspect Weckbaugh might have had the nickname in some other film which he remembers as an Our Gang film. It wouldn't be the only time he remembered things this way. For instance, he remembered details involving Farina which seem to match "Penrod And His Twin Brother" - only the black kid in question was Philip Hurlic. Sometimes it's Buckwheat or Alfalfa in the recollection, depending on the interview.

I quit, I found another fellow who was a famous child actor in the OUR GANG series named Stinky. It is just a short blurb in this article. www.insidesocal.com/history/2009/08/snipped from the article: Though business was brisk, it was not enough to keep the restaurant afloat, and its owners filed for bankruptcy in 1975. Into the breach stepped former "Our Gang" comedies star Chuck Johnston, pictured at left in the 1980s. (He played the character of "Stinky Davis.") In addition to being the master lessee of the Redondo Beach Marina, he owned a variety of businesses in King Harbor, including the Blue Moon Saloon. I am beginning to wonder if that was a stock name they gave all the no line extras who maybe had the camera pass over once in an episode just so they could feel important. Stinky Davis was a character in the Mickey McGuire series. At least five actors played the role throughout the series' course. But I believe this fellow is the kid that IMDB refer to as "Junior Johnston". He was in the series during the 1928-1929 season. P.S. you just solved a mystery for me. Thanks!

I'll cut him some slack and say it was the reporter who got it wrong...but the other two go out of their way to say they were Stinky also.

Drina Mohacsi of the Young Hollywood Hall of Fame e-mailed me just yesterday to let me know that she had added Ernie Weckbaugh to the 1930s section of the Young Entertainers Directory on her website. This was after I had brought the fact of his passing to her attention a couple of months ago.
Details of Ernie Weckbaugh's death seem to be rather sketchy. I gather that he died last October at age seventy-nine, but I haven't heard anything in regard to a probable cause of death. Has anyone here heard anything solid about this?

Has anyone here heard anything solid about this? The email that I received back in December stated that Ernie died on Oct. 20th. It also gave the birthdate of July 8, 1931, so the age of 79 is accurate. There was no information about cause of death. The email came from Bob Satterfield, who occasionally communicated with Ernie, so he probably got word from the family.

I just watched a new Laurel and Hardy documentary called "Laurel and Hardy: Their Lives and Magic" (highly recommended if you're a fan of the boys), and it features an interview with "Lucky" Brown. Brown mentions a film that he did (at age), claiming that it's an Our Gang short. In it, the Lucky wants to join the gang, but the gang don't want him because he wears a hat (?). The gang then decide to initiate him (throw him in the mud, pull pranks, etc.). Again, I'm thinking Lucky was in a rival Our Gang series. I do wish the filmakers would have done a bit more research on the Gang, though.

This lady again? When will people ever learn? Thinking that you were in Our Gang when you were actually in another series is one thing, but pointing to a picture of somebody else and claiming that it's you, ridiculous.

I feel sorry for the children and grandchildren of the impostors. They probably believe their parent or grandparent, and then when it's exposed don't know what to believe.

Probably most of you have noticed this already but the picture identified as Ernie Weckbaugh playing Stinky is of an extra in 'Came The Brawn.' He's one of the kids Alfalfa declares "too tough" to wrestle.

This guy was born in 1919, if he is the one listed at IMDB. Possibly Powder Puff?

I don't know, I think the fellow who played Powder Puff looked to be a few years older than Farina (maybe around Jackie Condon's or Joe Cobb's age).
