Does anyone know where I can find a sound clip of the "weep-wah" effect from the above-titled short?
It always amazes me how this sound has penetrated the American consciousness...I've heard it imitated on Howard Stern, The Furniture Guys, The Uncle Floyd Show...

The scene with the cake was previously used in the silent Our Gang short Ten Years Old. A similar scene was used in the silent Our Gang short Rainy Days. Neither film had a sound effect. The sound effect for the cake appears to be something that most people who grew up watching The Little Rascals on TV remember most.

it was the same noise that was heard in a lad and his lamp when spanky and cotton's bloated stomachs bounced off each other

I believe that sound effect was in "Spooky Hooky".

A most classic and memorable moment in Our Gang history, if I do say so!

I believe that sound effect was in "Spooky Hooky". It may have been. I always thought the sound in "Spooky Hooky" (for Porky's toy) was more of a cow-like sound. Could the editors have adjusted the audio of the sound from "Birthday Blues"?

I remember similar toys, but they were in can-like form. When the can was turned over, the same sound was made as in "Spooky Hooky". Cans like this can be found at grandpasgeneral.com/shop/moo-cow-the-box-toy-p-288.html . To me the cake sound appears to be more of a human made sound.
