Well, that is true. Rarely, do we really know if someone is guilty. It sure seems odd that he happened to go back into the restaurant to retrieve his gun- only to return and find his wife shot.
Sure, Tommy defended him- just like you, or I, would defend our friends. No one wants to think their friends are capable of murder. But guess what? There are people out there murdering their wives, husbands, children, etc. Most of them have friends who didn't think they could have done it.
Since Robert Blake was acquitted, I, also, hope he didn't do it. I would hate to think he killed his daughter's mother, and got away with it. And- guilty or not- I hope he gets healed emotionally, as well. My comment was a play on his Our Gang quote- not a declaration of guilt, or innocence.

*ouch*
(feels convicted and guilty)
meh, it was still a funny comment. If the court says he's innocent, then I guess he's innocent

There are too many bad one's to name. Some good one's obviously. But honestly, even the best MGM episodes are hampered by horrible endings. The MGM people just didn't know how to end the episodes in a cool way (Football Romeo and Aladdin's Lantern are 2 notable examples of good/funny outings with whimper-like endings). Anybody else notice this? P.S. All MGM episodes are hampered by the annoying opening montage medley of traditional songs.....urrrggghh! Makes one long for 'Good Old Days' as the opening music.

I also hate the opening theme of the MGMs. Always have.

Surely, you aren't comparing World War II to the Iraq War?

World War II was not meaningless.

World War II propaganda was about supporting our soldiers , who were risking their lives fighting an enemy was was slaughtering innocent people, as well as trying to conquer the rest of the world. That was not meaningless.

Did this REALLY turn into a war/political discussion?!?!?! Don't make me call up Eric Cartman, the exterminator.

Newski here - glad I found the place.
I've been an Our Gang fan for 30 of my 36 years and I STILL curse MGM for running 'em into the ground.
To answer the original question though, 1944's "Radio Bugs" gets my vote - even over all the moral preachings like "1-2-3 GO!" and the like.

Optimistic?
That's hardly a word that can be applied to the MGM shorts of 1938-1944.
When Roach started it all in 1922, his idea was to catch kids in their element - the only outside interference being in that Roach and Co. would put the kids in situations. The kids working those situations out themselves was the essence and spirit of the series - THEIR ingenuity is what captured our hearts.
When MGM got their corporate mits on the name, everything became staged, stilted and revenue-oriented. It was no longer kids being kids, but rather kids being sent to adults who, in turn, TOLD them how kids - in THEIR minds - SHOULD ACT.
MGM = no touch, no feeling. I shudder to think how they'd mangle the original treatment of something like "Teacher's Pet" - they'd suck all the pathos and REAL human drama right out of it and make it into some plastic, fake comedy that'd end with a moral play.
No sir - I wouldn't feel bad in the slightest if the entire MGM Our Gang 1938-1944 wing caught fire in the Sahara.

No ignorance here, jrsl. Back in the mid-1980's, thanks to two indie UHF stations, I was lucky enough to get my fill and then some every Saturday afternoon of Our Gang - one showed the butchered King World Hal Roach talkies exclusively, the other showed the MGM shorts exclusively. I kept watching the then-unfamiliar MGM shorts as a kid because I'd hoped that they'd get better the next weekend - it never happened. I've seen all 52 of 'em in their uncut state and they STILL stunk for the reasons I posted above. To each their own jrsl - just don't try to turn me to the Dark Side of Our Gang.
