The listing for the photo of the Little Rascals in Halloween costumes has now been amended to 'dressed as Little Rascals.' So that was obviously an innocent listing mistake but the phony potato is still claiming to be Joe.

I'm not sure whether the Icelandic seller of this item doesn't understand plain English, as I wrote to him to point out his 'mistake' but he hasn't rectified it. Alternatively perhaps I was wrong, and so were you, if you thought this was a photograph of Travis Tedford & Bug Hall. Perhaps the seller knows something that we don't? *Movie: Little Rascals starring Brittany Ashton Holmes and Heather Karaseu1994 -*

In the past some misguided people and outright liars have sometimes claimed that they had been members of Our Gang. Sometimes they'd produce a picture of the genuine Gang and claim that they were Harry, Buckwheat or whoever. Nowadays there's a different phenomenon in which people put up for sale (generally on eBay) photos of kids who they claim are members of Our Gnag but who in fact are not. Some of the sellers may be mistaken or misguided, maybe in some cases it's a case of wishful thinking, convincing themselves that they have original photos of Our Gang kids, which might be worth money. However in some cases it's probably outright fraud. Take for example these two listings. *KIDS HALLOWEEN COSTUMES Little Rascals Darla Alfalfa Our Gang Cowboy Vtg Photo*I've just emailed the seller and explained that those kids are not members of Our Gang. If it's an 'honest' mistake the listing will be removed. In this second example a signed photo purporting to be Joe Cobb has been listed, by somebody who does understand the placement of commas. *FAMOUS CHILD ACTOR JOE COBB ,FATTY BOY ,OUR GANG ,RARE AUTOGRAPHED STUDIO PHOTO*I have no idea who the phat pucker is but he's certainly not Joe Cobb. He looks likes he's from the Asian subcontinent to me. This listing has been run several times. About a month ago I emailed the seller and explained that it wasn't Joe. I even included some pictures of Joe to prove the point. The seller agreed and relisted the item with the description Joe Cobb Lookalike. Now it's back to being listed as just plain Joe Cobb again. Did someone else buy it as a 'Lookalike' photo and has now relisted it as Joe? Or is it still the same original seller who has simply decided to ignore the truth and commit fraud? I half hope that someone does buy it, realises that they've been conned and reports the seller. A lot of people over the years have pretended to be the "Our Gang" cast or used the "Our Gang" name for attention. In 1990 a man tried to lay claim to being Buckwheat but the real Buckwheat had died in 1980. In 1929, a female singer by the name of Baby Esther Jones used to use Farina's name in her act in the 1920s. According to reports, when she went to Spain they thought she was Farina from the "Our Gang" series, because some people thought Farina was a girl.
