And still they come... p://www.al.com/entertainment/indexssf/2017/03/alabama_man_was_in_little_rasc.html Ellison was in THE LITTLE RANGER, but as a nameless member of Butch's gang. He very well could have been an extra in GLOVE TAPS, and perhaps one of the boy scouts in JOY SCOUTS. I don't know where this "Nutsy" title came from, though.

At least there was some degree of truth, in this case; more so if Cal Ellison did indeed, appear in GLOVE TAPS (1937). A nice little article about an evidently, very decent fellow. CHEERS!

Since so many kids appeared as extras in "Our Gang" films, I don't have a problem when someone says they were one of those kids. Even if they are mistaken, they may have had a small role in one of the "Our Gang" copycat movies. We're talking about 90-year-olds trying to remember something that happened when they were seven. It's also possible that a young actor's work history was deliberately distorted by a stage parent, who spent years telling everyone that Junior appeared in "many" Our Gang films when he was actually an audience member in one of the Follies movies and you can't really see him.
But the fakes who claim they're the real Farina or "the original Freckles" are deliberately trying to deceive people.

But the fakes who claim they're the real Farina or "the original Freckles" are deliberately trying to deceive people. Or were part of local "amateur" (phony) versions of the Gang and were deceived themselves. Or were in a rival series, and grew up thinking it was 'Our Gang,' and that they played X. Or, in the case of Bill English, just delusional.

How about Buddy who during his three year acting career, starting at age eight, became a member of Our Gang after winning a spelling bee, I kid you not. He was a member of Our Gang at the same time as Jackie Cooper. You don't remember him? He was the small kid with big ears and lots of freckles, who earned between $7.50 and $10.00 per day. He memorably let a mouse loose in the classroom in one short. From what I've read about Tommy Bupp, the pay rates that Buddy mentioned was essentially what extras were paid during that period. So was he an extra who let his imagination run away with himself? He can't have been in a rival series, not if he has a photo of Our Gang, which he claimed to have been in. So was he mistaken, confused, deluded or simply a fantasist and a liar? I don't know and it doesn't matter much anyway as the poor guy is well dead and buried, along with all of his memories, including the false ones. Bud McDonald was legit. He was referred to as Buddy O'Donnell in School's Out. "He said, Whoah!"

Wow, well that makes a change, someone who claimed to have been in Our Gang and they really were!
