Restored version of an entry from one of Our Gang's competitors. Included in the cast are Peaches Jackson (Mary Ann's sister) and Elmo Billings. Any idea which credited actor goes with which face? "Betty" is obviously Peaches. I want to say that "Buddy" is Buddy Williams, but he looks more like Elmo Billings. I'm assuming "Tapioca" is the Farina knock-off (Hannah Washington, perhaps?). I recognize the chubby kid from other 'kid' series. www.filmpreservation.org/preserved-films/screening-room/oh-boy-1927

Never mind. I keep trying to post a video but it keeps refusing to come up. Wasn't that funny a joke anyways...

It's worth watching although I feel most of the "Our Gang" films of the time were a lot better. Several ideas in common, from the unseen fight behind a fence and the ever-popular wild ride.

In doing research on McDougall, here is some info that I found -
- The first six shorts ("Oh Boy!" being one of them) were produced by Joe Rock with Windsor Pictures Corporation for release through Arrow Pictures Corporation.
- J.R. Bray produced all of the remaining shorts, usually with Robert B. Wilcox directing.
- The series was originally going to be called "The Arrow Kids."
As for the original gang, Buddy Williams definitely played "Buddy." Elmo Billings played "Cuthbert," the rich kid. The two black kids were apparently Ananias Berry ("Bubbles," billed as "Sonny Berry") and his younger brother Warren J. ("Tapioca"). The Berrys, along with brother James later formed a popular song and dance team The Berry Brothers. Breffni Beggs and Albert Shaeffer are the two other boys in the cast, though I'm not sure which is which. Beggs was once presented with a scholarship by President Coolidge.
