Recently asked Dick Bann about the validity of the "School Begins" claim, and got this response -
"Yes, I was at MoMA last month lecturing and presenting films, and I asked to see SCHOOL BEGINS, which came from Eastern Europe and was abridged, with foreign text titles. But they plan to restore it, now that I have just furnished them with the cutting continuity."

Eastern Europe seems to be the source for many previously long "Non extant" films. Perhaps even more of the early 'Our Gang' silents, and other Hal Roach silents and very early talkies will eventually turn up in that seemingly fertile region? As for films that may have been found, but for whatever reason haven't been disclosed, it is my hope that whatever curators of such materials might come forward so that others might get to enjoy some long lost treasures! CHEERS!

Great news! Thanks for thinking to ask about "School Begins". Now we know.

Looking forward to seeing something soon. Maybe we will see more lost films coming out in the future.
