Oh, I did see that one-- I just didn't realize it was what I was looking for. Good thing these kiddos are forever adorable and I have an endless list of favorite pictures. ![](https://40.media.tumblr.com/edb12b52106e6df3c5e4101e03e36b88/tumblr_inline_o45p609WVk1tpigwx_540.jpg) Adorable.

Give me a D! And an A! ... well you know the drill: ![](http://s21.postimg.org/lkebn3n3r/Darla_as_a_cheerleader.jpg) ^Taken from the 1982 "Rascals' Revenge" episode. She wears a shorter skirt than usual. I wonder what the "A" on her sweater represents?

Some of my favorite group photos. I don't know the name of the boy on the far right, or the boy in between Jerry and Stymie. ![](http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k467/Muirmaiden/scottyourgangbaseballteam11219140_10153336392796667_3865829934330358287_n_zpsan90tnrt.jpg) Spanky and Scotty with some of the girls, 1934. The little girl on the far left I don't recognize, but the other girls are Eileen Bernastein, Jacqueline Taylor (standing in back), Marianne Edwards, Jo Ann Gay and Peggy Lynch, aka Margaret Kerry, who signed the photo. As an adult, she was the model for Tinkerbell in Walt Disney's "Peter Pan" (1953) ![](http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k467/Muirmaiden/scottyourgangspankymarianneedwardspeggylynchs-l1600_zpsedpmrony.jpg) Beware the altered version of this photo floating around the internet where Scotty is cut out of the picture and his arm has been placed on Buckwheat. I don't know who did that but the original is the only way to go! ![](http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k467/Muirmaiden/scottyourgangalfalfaspankybuckwheatdarlas-l1600_zpsplnpntii.jpg) I wonder what they were singing? ![](http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k467/Muirmaiden/scottyourgang12347610_10153878142168619_4761682019339827138_n_zpspcdw4zga.jpg)

Some of my favorite group photos. I don't know the name of the boy on the far right, or the boy in between Jerry and Stymie. The fellow in between Jerry and Stymie is John "Uh huh" Collum. I'm drawing a blank on the guy on the right. This is just a guess, but he might be Roach writer/director Hal Law's son - Hal, Jr. I have no idea what he looks like, though. As an adult, she was the model for Tinkerbell in Walt Disney's "Peter Pan" (1953) It would seem that the Roach staff had a tough time on deciding who their next leading lady would be during this period. Jane Withers was slated to join the Gang in "Hi'-Neighbor!", but dropped out after being cast in the Shirley Temple feature "Bright Eyes." Jackie Lynn Taylor was cast as a 'temporary' leading lady - despite being a little too old, she reminded Roach of Mary Kornman. A press item from around 1935 implies that Marianne Edwards was slated to be the next leading lady. I wonder what the "A" on her sweater represents? Alfalfa?

As for the boy on the right, I'm thinking he might have been a background player as he does look a little familiar but I'm not sure.

Merchandise: One of the oldest pieces of Our Gang merchandise. These dolls - based on Jackie Condon, Mickey Daniels, Farina Hoskins, Mary Kornman, and Joe Cobb - were sold around 1925. Reportedly, the Farina doll was the most popular of the bunch. ![](https://p2.liveauctioneers.com/249/34820/14278818_1_l.jpg) A series of figurines, from (I'm guessing) around 1931. ![](http://0.tqn.com/w/experts/Classic-Film-2786/2015/08/gang_1.jpg) Paper dolls used for dress-up. Again, from around 1931. ![](http://p2.la-img.com/444/18561/6271706_1_l.jpg) 1932 puzzle, based on that well-known episode in which the kids take over a drugstore. Bet you never thought you'd see Breezy Brisbane or Jacquie Lynn merchandise, eh? ![](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zj9DVbWJalM/TzwvyUODA3I/AAAAAAAALqM/7rbkBCI7ukY/s1600/McKessons+Our+Gang+Puzzle.jpg) Mego Our Gang dolls from the 1970s. That character art by KingWorld may have the beginning stages of a planned animated revival. The art may have been used to pitch an idea to various animation studios. The end result was likely the short-lived Hanna-Barbera series from 1982 to 1984.
Alfalfa's likeliness in the art was definitely used in the H-B series, and some elements of Darla were used as well (pink skirt, pink and white footwear, and brown hair), albeit modified. Stymie was never used, but Porky, who was not in the art, was.

More images of the animated Darla, all with something in common that are inconsistent with the norms. One from "Yachtsa' Luck", when Darla declares Pete the true hero in capturing the robbers: ![](http://s28.postimg.org/q726xwju5/Darla_Inverted_Shoes_and_Socks_Yachtsa_Luck.png) Another one, from "Cap'n Spanky's Showboat", when the gang and Captain Smokey were about to relaunch the Mississippi Queen: ![](http://s14.postimg.org/iz75a0u8h/Darla_Inverted_Shoes_and_Socks_Cap_n_Spanky_s.png) And one from "The Zero Hero", after Darla is declared the winner of a TV contest and invites the boys to the soda shop to celebrate her victory: ![](http://s24.postimg.org/pzaic85n9/Darla_Inverted_Shoes_and_Socks_The_Zero_Hero.png) Aside from mtw, can anybody else identify the abnormality?

I believe that was a birthday party photo - not a Christmas photo. You took the words right out of my mouth - but I'm trying to figure out which kid is having the birthday. I think Jackie Taylor has this photo in her book and says that it's Spanky's birthday. I don't know where I put my copy so I can't look it up right now, but I'm sure somebody on this board has a copy they can check. If it was Spanky's birthday, that would put the photo in early October - in fact, they could have celebrated Spanky's and Scotty's together. At first glance, though, it looks like the kids from "Hi-Neighbor," which was shot in January. The only way to correct this is to figure that Bobbie Beard would have been present even if he wasn't in the series anymore (logical enough given Stymie's presence), and that the boy in back is not Marvin Trin, since he wasn't around at the time. The boy in the picture may have simply been related to somebody at the studio. Looks like that photo we were all talking about is not longer available. Here's another copy: ![](http://nuttynutnewsnetwork.co.uk/pics/ourgang1934.JPG) According to the Nutty Nut News Network, it was taken during Jackie Taylor's birthday party. The kid next to Wally is identified as "Buddy Gill."

Fascinating piece of history - Farina (circled) admired by fans in what appears to be an all-black neighborhood. ![https://profjulialee.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/figure1-163.jpg](https://profjulialee.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/figure1-163.jpg)

A few things give me cause to question the June 1935 date. Wally Albright and Tommy Bond were no longer part of the 'Our Gang' series by that time, and it wasn't their Farewell Birthday Party. Also, to my eyes, Spanky looks a bit too young for this to be a mid 1935 photo. Having checked the release dates for Jackie Lynn Taylor's final 'Our Gang' appearances (SHRIMPS FOR A DAY was released in December, 1934), and allowing for earlier shooting dates, I'm thinking this photo could be from June 1934, despite her recollection of it being from 1935. Any thoughts? CHEERS!
